So I walk into work and the boss peeps decided to swap ISP's on me.. Great. We went from a wireless radio system to DSL. Higher speeds? great! Setting everything back up? not so great. After about a half hour I got it all going again, except the old cannon printer. It is our only network printer that is not wireless, it connects directly to the router via Ethernet. Our new router absolutely REFUSES to see the cannon.

When getting a new printer is not an option, what will fix this?

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED! THANKS.

Hi!

Does your Printers's adapter is configured to getting 'ip address automatically'? if not so .. change it to automatic.. that might help.

I had to change it with one of the wireless printers, so yes that may be it. But I do not have the manual for it and there for have no idea on how to change the settings.

Well there maybe a reset button or something on the printer for the default settings or something.. i don't have idea.

or you can google it and put the name and model of the printer and there may be a way to get at the settings of the adapter of the printer.

I printed off a manual and will try to change the settings. I think it is that the printer is trying to connect to the old gateway.. So I am going to try changing that first.

Dollar to a donut that your printer is set with static IP addressing for the old router. The one issue you might have after getting it connected to the new router is the computers will be looking for it at the old IP address.

It was connecting to the old gateway. Swapped out the gateway and reset the modem and it worked, just like that.

Good to hear.

If you are looking at replacing the gateway, configure the new one to use the same IP addressing as the old and it should swap out with no problems.
