New Upgrade to Win7, Mic Volume Too Low To Hear

As it says in the title, I recently upgraded to Win7. Since the upgrade, my microphone has not worked. The input volume is too low to be heard, even at max volume and mic boost.

I've tried disabling and re-enabling it, and adjusting every bar I can find that concerns to max. Neither has produced a result.

I'm tempted to un and re-install the mic, but I don't know where my driver disk is, so I'm afraid of doing irreversible damage.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

The onboard audio. If it's Realtek, there's a link in the thread at the top of this section of the forum.

I think it's Sigmatel. Every time I try to change the driver for it, the install quits out and says:

ExitError:Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again

which I do, but it never works.

Check with the mic manufacturer or the Windows Compatibility Center for updated driver information: Windows 7 Compatibility Center home.

I don't exactly know who the manufacturer is. It's a Dell computer, so does that mean Dell made the mic?

Oh, and as to the compatibility center, this is all I could find:
