Hi there (my first post and it's an important one!)

I just bought a brand new desktop PC and had an ASUS PCE-N13 300Mbps wireless adapter installed. However, it seems as though Windows 7 won't let it connect to my router (Belkin N150 - only recently purchased too).

It shows on the task bar that the adapter can see the network with full bars and excellent connection however when I type in my passphrase (which I have been using for other laptops (XP and Windows 7) which work fine) it says the passphrase is incorrect. I even went into the router and double checked the passphrase was correct, tried multiple times but it still wont connect.

The security on the router is WPA/WPA2+AES+TPIK (or whatever).

I have read other forums about this problem which say to use WEP security but i tried that and that didn't work.

I'm wondering if someone who has had the same problem as I have has found a solution.

Some help please!! :)

Welcome to SF!

Try disabling the security all together, and see if you can connect.

You try without passphrase? if it works its then an encryption problem.

You try resetting the router to the default UID and Pword?

You should have the best luck using WPA-2 security with Windows 7, it's also much more secure than WEP. Certain older routers have problems using WEP with Windows 7 but sometimes a firmware upgrade will get that working for you. Be sure and enable SSID broadcast in your routers settings.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried without security and it connects fine. I try with WPA/WPA2 and AES/TPIK and it just won't accept the passphrase. Its a new Belkin N150 wireless modem router so there are some settings different at either the router end or the adapter end... I'm just not sure what they are!
