Because we don't know everything that has changed. We know some things, and a few know a lot of things - but things change all the time. This is not some software that you download as a patch to existing software nor is it a small app with 5 known changes / bug fixes - this is an entire Operating system, with millions of lines of code.

I am willing to be there is not a single person on ht planet that knows everything that has changed thus far in W7 RTM. So, in light of that, we answered as best as we could.

the better question is why was such a question ever asked in the first place....

I think it's a reasonable question. Like if you were to ask me what changed from XP to Vista, I'd probably mention an Aero interface, Improved security, etc.

This guy wanted to know what had changed between a few builds. A lot of people on this forum have ran both builds, so why is it so hard - even if you don't know them all - just to list the few things you do know to the guy.

It's that kinda attitude of "download it and try it yourself" that's elitist and puts people off communities like this.

His questions were asked and answered to his satisfaction. Only some dook interjected an irrelevant question and then found something incomprehensible in a succinct and cogent reply.

Then no offense, but you're not thinking very clearly. You cannot compare an Operating System of the magnitude of Windows 7 to a 4.5 MB program to help you find all your deleted files - that can have a changelog, this will not.

Furthermore, in case you haven't noticed, RC stands for Release Candidate - which means that the company is ready to release this to the world as a final product but wants some final test performed to ensure there are not showstopper bugs in the code. Even then, with nothing major having changed, I can count numerous updates having been posted for W7 that may or may not have been incorporated into the final build. Asking this sort of question is like asking a 747-100 mechanic to list all the changes between the 747-100 model and the 747-200 model. Are you kidding me? Every single change?

If we knew the answer, then it would have been because the answer had been posted - since the OP was already told that M$ had not posted the answer, I cannot understand how any would think the question had not been answered. It's Micro$oft's OS, right? They did all the development n it, right? They did not post the answer, right?

I did not code a single thing for M$ - I certainly don't have the answer. Furthermore, they have various 'teams' that work on different parts of the OS and its feature set. So, unless this forum were to be populated by either every single M$ team that worked on this OS, or else at least the team managers, we would never know every single line of code that was changed.

in terms of features - well, going back to my earlier comment about an RC and its purpose, I'd say, fundamentally, nothing has changed - b/c the RC was feature complete and no real show stopper bugs were found.

Does it make a little more sense now?

If this is the case then why do people here update their builds every time a new version leaks? People must be noticing even small changes. He's not neccessarily asking for a complete changelog or a rundown of the code, just what he can expect to find if he updates his 7100, and if other people think it's worth it for him.

The main thing is the speed, reliability and driver database of the newer builds. From 7000 thru to 7600 the install and overall performance has been progressively faster than the last. The only visual change from that of 7137 was the new 'default' wallpaper, which IMHO sucks, i miss the fish....I'm off to download it now.....

One thing that didn't change was the internet connection icon on the system tray. I mean white bars indicate good connection? White bars? Why don't we start saying red alarms are a sign of peace or police sirens mean no crime today.

Because build 7600 is not a "leak". It is the RTM (release to manufacturing) build. It was released last week and most of us running it got it from our MSDN or TechNet subscriptions. The older builds will expire, build 7600 is the real deal.
