Nfs shift

I have 7600 x64 and running Shift perfectly. All updates installed, Aero is on, Sidebar gadgets enabled. What I really can't stand is that at 16x Anti-aliasing the FPS really goes down to like 20-12 frames per second. That sucks. Also the loading time is horrible... I had to shave twice 'till the game got loaded [lol]. I don't understand how can I be running Prototype with all settings MAX from 40 to 60 FPS [ingame], and how some lousy NFS is gonna take down my GPU with it's "awesomeness".... My video-card struggles to keep up with this thing and I don't play it anymore... It's overall not that cool. Try Burnout Paradise - waaaaay cooler if you ask me!

burnoute paradise is not so great.. Well i is cool and interesting but not for a long run... Simply it gets boring after some hours of playing...

Anyway nfs shift is good but dont work good... And probably you have to have some sort of luck to get it work properly.

Ah, don't be mad, it's just a game! Try all settings on low and disable your anti-aliasing. Maybe it should run smoother then. If you think it wastes the point try medium or low-medium combinations. You'll hit the bullseye some way...
Edit: Your GPU is just like mine... Is the processor the problem here?

I get bored of racing/driving games real fast. Burnout goes up to your elite license and then you get bored. It's perfect in the party mode though, you NEVER get bored with a friend on the other controller! ;)
I like kill/shoot/free-explore games. GTA:SA fits my category perfectly with this, but on my new PC it seems to run reeeeal fast! Lag I tell you! Even with the frame limiter on I have this. Also the annoying mouse bug issue. You may have heard this.
For now, I stick with Prototype, it's an OK game, real addicting in the beginning, and makes an impression of a lot of swearing with the first few missions, It's swear 100%! I'd give some... examples, but I want to keep my head away from the banhammer. Later on you get used to the swearing and the cut-scenes are slightly less. You can't really get bored of it that fast, there are always new thing you can find. Somehow landmarks and hints are more addicting to me than super-jumps and billboard smashes! :p
I got offtopic and I think I'll go do some more math for school. Better nerd than turd! :geek:

lol I played Prototype, not all the way but some of the beginning. I think i might reinstall it. I know i can't play it on max settings. Wow, talk about the carnage in that game! I'd be lucky to get decent frame rates on medium lol
I'm a FPS/RTS gamer more anything else. But i do keep a varying assortment of games so i can never get bored, but somehow i do hahaha
Lately, i can't seem to let go of Tropico 3 and COD4!

Well i have to say that I went against my better judgement and bought NFS - Shift and what a complete waste of time and money. If it isnt looping at the video shots ie ingaming it gets as far as starting first race to first corner then completely crashes. Its about time people at Electronic Arts get off their backsides and test thier games properly. Judgeing by what EA say the specks are for this game you still have to turn all your graphics down to me that is just bad programming. To say that the game is only a couple of weeks old if that there is already a patch that doesnt work out for it.

Hi guys

I was also experienced some prbs with game launching on Win7 + AMD proc (compatibility mode failed, admin mode failed) , but I have tried an old app which you can find here:

|MG| Win2000 Launcher 1.5.2 Download

Just:
1. Launch this app
2. Enter the name of entry that will be visible on the list
3. Choose shift.exe file
4. On "Multiple processors users" tab, check JUST "Processor 1" and nothing more, nothing less.
5. Save your config, choose your newly created entry on the list
6. Click on LAUNCH and enjoy

Hope this will help someone.

Make sure you guys have the latest patch installed (1.02 I believe). Its the one that includes some DLC muscle cars and a Supra.

Shift runs great here(1440x900 maxed 4x AA/AF average 100 or so fps give or take). I don't personally have to run any compatibility modes or anything special. I recall there were some issues with ATI cards. One thing you can try is rename the shift.exe to grid.exe or fear.exe. Sounds dumb I know but it loads a different better optimized profile in CCC. My previous GFX card was ATI and this helped me when I was on XP. Also the usual make sure all your drivers are up-to-date. There were some other tricks that I recall reading but they were specific to windows xp. I'd have a look at the official forum for any more tips. I figured ATI would have had their drivers good to go for this game by now.

Oh gawd, you had me at muscle cars. I personally drive a 1979 Tbird. I have yet to play the NFS to have one though :/
