"no drives detected" message during Win 7 installation

♦Hi!

I'm using Win 7 Professional x64 rtm from MSDNAA.
When i try to create a clean install, everything goes smooth untill the Partition selection screen. I get a "no drives were detected" notice and the list is empty. It offers the Load drivers option but i dont really know where to get them.

I have Striker Extreme motherboard, and a wdc wd5000aaks SCSI hard drive (connected via SATA).

Im running Vista Ultimate x64 at the moment. If i use vista's install dvd to see if it finds hdd drive during installation, it does find them. Also if i try to use Windows 7 installer from within Vista, win 7 installer finds my hdd normally.

What should i do?

That is odd, but the controller driver is available at your mobo website. You can try the Vista driver on your mobo CD.

Had the same issue with the RC 7100 build. What I found was my ISO was corrupt and I had to redownload, and burn it at a slow speed. You may have tried this, but that is what it was for me. Nero actually told me that it didn't match. Just a thought.

After trying every possible driver with "Load driver" option without success, seeing atleast 3 BSOD's (error 0x0000007b) and being in a general bad mood i finally made it into Windows 7.

What i did was the folowing:
1.) i flashed the bios to the latest version (used a rather old one before (beginning of 2007 i belive))
2.) burned the image at 1x speed (with imageburn, default settings)

Which one did it i don't really know, but here is my advice to everyone that experiences problems during setup. First and foremost burn the image at a slow speed. I burned mine at 4x (dvdrw) several times with several different programs and had no success.
