No front speaker sound, just hissing 5,1

Hello!


I have just reinstalled windows 7 this weekend together with new hardware. I have an old soundcard, an Creative Sound blaster Audigy which has worked fine for me on both XP and vista, but in 7 i have a problem. Even thoug the jacks are plugged where they are supposed to the speakers always plays all sound in the back speakers. the front speaker are just hissing. i have tried all possible configurations with both creative drivers and the control panel..

The worst is that this problem is with the integrated Realtek on the mainboard. there it is also hissing, just that it is in the back..


Any idea folks?

Hi Toby and welcome

A couple of things come to mind.

1-you should disable the built in if you want to use the audigy.

2- If you have upgraded the driver already you can try running it in compatibility mode. (right click the file you use to launch>goto properties>compatibility mode and check XP.

3- in the control panel where it allows you to test the sound out of all the speakers does it work correctly?

Thanks. i'll try that tomorrow and report back.. I can say one thing though, that is that the testing in control panel plays sound in all the 5 speakers, only that the rear speakers are playing front and vice versa.
