When I wake the computer from sleep, the internet connection doesn't work. The diagnostic keeps saying that my ethernet cable isn't plugged it. I have to restart the computer for the internet to work.

I'm using 64 bit Pro and a wired connection.

Im not sure of the root problem (at a guess that when your pc goes into sleep it disconnects for safety) but go into Network and Sharing Centre (bottom left of the taskbar/screen with the monitor and plug) and you should see diagnose and repair/troubleshoot on the left of the screen or on the bottom depending on the layout.

Click that and it should reset the network adapter.

At least that will save you re-booting,im sure someone else can fix it fully for you.

P.S Wrong Section:)

Got it fixed. It had to do with the power save settings that disabled the network adapter.

The problem is still there. It seems the internet works if I awake from sleep the first time. If I put it to sleep and wake again, it won't work. I tried with both the save power to the network adapter enabled and disabled.

Ok ,try deleting your current set up and start from scratch.

Near the end of setting up the network there should be an option to connect automatically, tick it,this should mean it reconnects automatically from sleep.

You mean uninstall the network adapter and let Windows reinstall it? I did that, but I don't see the connect automatically option. I really hope you don't mean to format the computer.

Adjust the network adapters power saving settings by right clicking it in Device Manager - the chances are that it may be set to 'allow Windows to switch off this device to save power...'

No no no ,the connection you set up between your pc>Router>internet
delete it, make a brand new connection and see if the option pops up.
gather all relvent data prior to deletion,i.e ISP info etc

Try rolling back the ethernet drivers if they've been updated, especially if you have allowed the OS to update them. On my Gigabyte board W7x64 keeps trying to allow MS update to feed me a driver that caused me similar issues - all I can think off on the spur of the moment.

Can you tell me how to delete the connection? I can only disable it. I tried setting up a new connection anyway, but I don't see a wireless option since I connect through a router.

Either plug it out or click into the network and sharing screen and on the left "Adaptor Settings" click it>right click>properties>disable but you need it,so just plug it out set up new connection, plug it back in to detect

On a side note,in properties click configure, advanced and tell me what settings you have, you could try mine to an extent if there different and on the last tab of configure panel, you have all 3 ticked?

Im a wee bit confused to the above, have you wireless (Hub adaptor) or wired or wifi?

I'm connected to a router through a wired (ethernet) connection. When I try to make a new connection all that's listed in Broadband (PPPOE). On the advanced settings, there's a bunch of stuff listed:

Adapter inter frame networks
Flow control
Interrupt moderation
etc
