No internet after waking from sleep

Everytime my Windows 7 Home PC wakes from sleep mode, there's no internet connection. When I run the Troubleshoot Problem tool, it always has to reset the LAN which fixes the issue. How do I resolve this issue for good?

Maybe the Ethernet controller is getting shut off during sleep? Try going to Control Panel > Device Manager, right click your Ethernet controller > Properties. Under the Power Management tab, there should be a checkbox that you can uncheck for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

Stop putting your system into Sleep mode. When you are done using it shut it down. When you want to use it again turn it on.
I would bet this fixes the problem for good.

I appreciate the suggestion from Sikoo and not the one from Shootist. My Ethernet controller was already configured as you suggested Sikoo. I don't have a router. I have Comcast as my internet provider and I'm using their Arris cable modem. Hibernate mode is off.

Under Power Options:
Wireless adapter settings: Power Saving mode: Maximum Performance
Sleep: Allow Hybrid Sleep: On
Sleep: Hibernate after: off
Sleep: Allow wake timer: on

Any other suggestions?

Try configuring it the opposite of what Sikoo says. Enabling "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" tells the computer that it must initialize the device when it wakes from sleep.

Bummer I'm sorry I can't offer any more information, aside from making sure you have the latest ethernet drivers for your motherboard/card. I don't use sleep, myself. Hopefully someone that knows more can chime in and help you fix your problem.

Your modem is just that a modem. It does not have a router built in. So what you are getting on your PC is a public IP address. That is not good IMHO.
Because of this, the modem being just modem, when your PC goes to sleep the connection is lost with the modem/comcast and when it wakes as far as the modem is concerned something on the other end already has a connection. But it doesn't so you have to reset the ethernet adapter for the modem to see something is connected.
I bet if you put a router in between the modem and your PC this problem will go away.

I have a router and mine does the same thing, and as to the comment about not using sleep, just shut it off, that works fine and dandy, but that still doesn't fix the problem, which is why we're asking for help in the first place. SAFSP
