I suspect due to a bunch of win7 patches, I can no longer see XP or Mac pc's on my home network, nor can I see the memory card of a Canon Pixma printer/scanner.

In file manager (win explorer), if I click the Network icon of the left panel, I will see the Canon printer listed under Multifunction devices, and also under Scanners and Printers.

But the (previously visible) Mac computer and the memory card slot of the printer is not visible (and yes, I have a memory card in there, trying to grab files from it).

Any thoughts on where I should check? Again, I think this problem started after doing a bunch of Windows Updates.

BTW, I have (re)installed the latest Canon drivers. No change. And I can print to the printer, which is configured for tcp/ip, not USB.

Another symptom that may be relevant is that while I can VPN to my office, I can no longer remote desktop to my office PC.
