Solved No Network Infrastructure and unable to add UPNP settings on router.

In Network my router has gone. It is ofcourse still functional.
I am connected by wire.

The past 2 weeks after getting this new router, the router has shown up in the Network folder and loaded instantly. Now it takes a long time to load that folder and after waiting, the router doesn't show up.

Before the new router I had a similar problem but it was slightly different. The router and network infrastructure would show up but if I right clicked it and pressed properties, there was 99% of the time no Settings button to add my upnp settings, when ever that settings button wasn't there my nat went back to Moderate (it may as well be called Pathetic).

So maybe this problem from 2 different routers (old - netgear, new - TP LINK) has something to do with my pc?



If I log on to the router and go to the UPnP section, it only shows me the list, it wont let me add do it

I didn't add those things.

My static ip ends in .30 .


Preferably I would like my network infrastructure to come back to my Network folder so it doesn't take for ever to load the network folder.

My network is set as home/work.

NAT being moderate? Are you playing a call of duty game? To my knowledge that is a proprietary term that is used on those games.

UPnP is an automated system that dynamically opens ports when a valid application asks for it. It is a slightly buggy system and is not a guaranteed way of opening the relevant ports since it needs to be requested.

Your best bet would be to open the ports manually on your firewall.

What is the make/model of your router and the game that you wish to 'open' the NAT type on?

Haha nah it's a term I used because I know most people will know it.
I have been adding my own things by going into network infrastructure.
It's TP LINK N600 W8980.

I know how to port forward and do all the firewalls, the best effect I always get is by adding it to the router settings under network infrastructure.

Not entirely sure what you mean by best effect? To my knowledge it will either work or not...

In network page where Network Infrastructure is meant to be, are you able to right click on the other device and then install?

Did you receive any installation or configuration disks at all since this could be a factor...

What does the network map show in Network and Sharing Center?

Yeah it only worked by adding it to the router settings via Network folder.
Nothing says install and there is no right click on map.
Here is the network map:

I installed the stuff from the disc that came with the router on the same day I set it up.

What was installed?

When doing the port forwarding did you make sure that the relevant ports were opened on the personal firewall as well since those are most likely blocked as well.

I'm not sure, network adapters ? It was just an express installation from a mini disc that came with the pack.
And yes I always did everything to allow ports.

I've just tried going back to a default ip and dns server, my router still isn't showing up in my network folder, so i changed back to static and googles dns server.

Something strange I see, don't know if it's normal or not but if I do

ipconfig /renew

it says it cant be performed on Local Area Connection* 13. My network is Network 2 lol.

I've seen this name before as I have been searching around all these network settings, can't seem to find it again now.

It would appear you have some replicating ghost NICs. This is a common issue in Windows however is relatively harmless.

Unfortunately all I can suggest is to uninstall and re-install the router software from the disc.

Did you change the name of the router at all? Change the SSID for wireless? This may only work on the default network name.

Try to do a factory reset on the router and see if it returns at all...

It shouldn't interact with any network configurations however if that was the last application installed before the issue occurred then by all means please try.

I think i found the problem ;o ?
Hamachi may be messing it up for me...
If I disable this:

My internet goes, can't get it back.

So i've just re-enabled it now to tell you about this.

So I uninstalled any driver there to do with hamachi / virtualbox.
Put in my motherboard CD and uninstalled my ethernet driver, then installed it.

My internet came back.

But still no router showing up in Network

Once the other computers were off, I turned off and on the router.

and what do you know .....

MY ROUTER IS SHOWN IN NETWORK

But how long until it disappears again, maybe rebooting it finalized some of this stuff I were doing ?

So i'm not sure what the fix was.....

I also rebooted my computer and a vpn program I had only just downloaded today told me it had discovered a new network and my internet was off, about 15seconds later my internet came on.
