"No other homegroup computers are currently available"

I create a homegroup on my desktop and go to join the homegroup on my laptop but after entering the homegroup password it says that I am part of a homegroup but "no other homegroup computers are currently available" I have selected to share all of my libraries, yet when I go back to homegroup settings all the libraries are unchecked, and they become unchecked right after I check them and leave the homegroup settings. I have tried disabling my firewall and gone through all of the advanced homegroup settings and still no luck. Any suggestions?

Are both computers running Windows 7? Are both versions able to create and/or join a homegroup? What security software do you have installed on your computers?

My desktop where I am creating the homegroup from is running Win7 Ultimate. The laptop which I am trying to join the homegroup from is running Win7 Home Premium. And the desktop creates the homegroup just fine and the laptop says it is joined to a homegroup but it says no other homegroups are currently available. I am running eset Smart Security 5 but even when I disable eset I still have the same problem.

ipv6 is enabled on both machines but my router does not support ipv6. Could this be the problem?

No, that shouldn't have anything to do with the problem. As long as you have ipv6 enabled on each computer, then homegroups will function. If there was a problem, you'd get a message about ipv6 not being enabled when you tried to create/join a homegroup.

Try this: on both computers, leave the homegroup, then reboot. Create a homegroup on the laptop, then reboot. On the desktop, join that homegroup.

If that doesn't work, then I would completely uninstall Eset, reboot, and see if things work. Disabling those types of security suites doesn't really disable them - most of the time you have to completely remove them.

I have ipv6 enabled on both, but it won't let me join the home group because ipv6 is not enabled --- frustrating. I upgraded to windows 7 professional so I wouldn't have the problem. Is there an answer?

Are you getting an error message about ipv6? If you do an ipconfig, do you get an ipv6 address?

It involves editing the registry, but people have had success with homegroups after doing this and rebooting the computers. However, before doing the registry hack, I'd completely uninstall any security software (other than Microsoft Security Essentials, if you are using that), leave the homegroup on both computers, reboot, and create a homegroup on one computer, reboot, and try to join it on the other computer.
