No preview of ORF files, though OK in Photo Viewer

I can't get previews of ORF photo files (Olympus RAW) from my XZ-1. I've tried both the latest version of the MS Codec pack, and a previous one. Those result in Windows Photo Viewer displaying the files OK, but no preview function in Windows Explorer. JPG files preview just fine.

Anyone have any idea why this might be?

So you have tried installing Microsoft Camera Codec Pack ? Hopefully it is still installed?

In that case, check the filetype association of .orf files.
Right click on any of them, select properties in the context menu.
In the General tab, "opens with" what? If not windows photo viewer, change it to windows photo viewer.

There are some other options .....

Yes, the codecs are installed. That's how Windows Photo Viewer is able to display the files I presume. I checked the default file association, which was 'none', and changed it to WPV. That resulted in a change in the Properties preview pane at the bottom of WinExpl, from one generic icon to another, but still no preview pane image.

If I select Preview from the context menu it will/did open the ORF file in WPV, just nothing in the preview pane in Windows Explorer
