Download the latest Catalyst suite for desktops from this link.

Run it and extract to C:\ATI. Close the installer directly after extraction.

Then go to device manager and right click on standard vga. Properties. Details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste results to here.

Along with it, attach a .rar file made of the inf files inside C:\ATI somewhere. (*.inf to search in the top right box, while in C:\ATI)
I'll edit it for you. Then you can replace the important one with mine after, when I attach to a post.

Easy.

Yeah. If you have C:\ATI folder already on the system, just close the ATI software installation screen. Not needed any longer.

But now I need the hardware id strings like I said before. :D

Yeah. If you have C:\ATI folder already on the system, just close the ATI software installation screen. Not needed any longer. I DO NOT have the C:\ATI sw anymore. I had 9.9 but uninstalled a while back. Have since then uninstalled anything ati related that did not work. So should I indeed install 9.10 then?

But now I need the hardware id strings like I said before. :D[/QUOTE]

uhm....

as I mentioned there was no standard VGA in my device manager> I have looked in ever way 7 offers me to view the DM/droplist & it is just not there. The only display option is the Windows 7 loaded (as in it installs during a clean install and there is noway I am aware of to stop it from doing this)ATI Radeon disply driver. I have included snips of this. I can remove this but the second I reboot it will be replaced

Do it for the ATI one in the display adapters section. I told you standard vga because that's how it is when you don't previously have a driver installed. My mistake.

Never tried but that's not a problem.

Here's the driver. It's also easy to get it working with latest "regular" desktop driver too.

reponse

The MS supplied driver works but only in fits and starts. It will turn off @ times when I am doing nothing but watching a stream or what not. That being said: I have 0 control over the card. No CCC or other app. So the recent 9.9 or 9.10 stable driver IS something I am in need of but also the catalyst control. Otherwise the card is of little to no value for me. If you go back in the thread I believe ( I sure as heck intended @ least) to state that was my "malfunction."
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
J

Oh ya, alright. Then you can follow this link to install. But first, I'll have to make you a different .inf to use instead of the one in the attachments there.

Right click on the ATI card in device manager. Properties. Details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste results here and I'll have it up for you in no time.
