Hello there,

My motherboard and CPU were bad, so I changed them out for new ones:

Old board/CPU

ASUS M5A78L M USB 3
FX6300

New board/CPU

Intel Core i5 4460]
Gigabyte Z97 D3H

I was expecting for Windows to crash, and it did, but then it loaded the new drivers, and it shut off, then loaded and was working. I had to phone up to get activated - that was all good. But ever since this, there is no option to put my PC to sleep.

The only thing I can think of, is that the power switch LED is not plugged in properly/or to the right port or the power switch. Other than this, how can I fix my problem? Cheers, qwertyK

Hi make sure their is no driver errors in device manager. I would check for updated drivers for graphics card.

There might be a setting in the BIOS you have to enable to show the sleep mode in the OS. The link might give a hint...

I fixed the problem, although not sure if its a permenant fix. In device manager, I had my GPU and also "Standard VGA Adapter"???. I disabled it and it worked. For some reason I try to uninstall it, then I reboot, and then it installs itself again. What is the standard VGA adapter?

There are device errors, one for Standard VGA Adapter, one for SMBus Controller, the other for USB.

If I've installed the discrete card already, won't the integrated graphics already be disabled? I did download the latest chipset drivers (Intel managment engine) but did not install the hot fix (it would not run).

Should I do a clean reinstall of windows 7?

Yeah think I will. Was going to do it when I changed the parts, as I wasn't expecting it to load, but as it did I thought why bother?

Can I download Windows 10 and do a clean install of it from windows 7? Because that is what i want to do.
