No sound being projected through manycam (stereo mix missing?)

I have a Sony VAIO VPCEB24FD and I have installed manycam and disabled my webcam driver. The video works just fine but no audio is broadcast. I've read on the forums that it has something to do with a "stereo mix". So the audio driver I have installed is a "high definition audio device" by Microsoft. Digital version 6.1.7600.16385. Can someone walk me through the steps I need to take to be able to broadcast audio through manycam?

Thanks in advance!

I can't help you with Manycam software. But I might be able to help you find the Stereo Mix device.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Sound > Manage Audio Devices.
On the Record Tab you would find the Stereo Mix Device. If it is not shown, Right Click on any white area inside the Recording Tab and Check: "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
Now the Stereo Mix device should show. If it doesn't, post back.
Right Click on Stereo Mix and select "Set as Default Device" to activate.

If by "nothing's there" you mean there is no stereo mix available, then you may need to go here:
Sony eSupport - VPCEB24FD - Software Updates & Drivers
And download and install the audio drivers in order to get the Stereo Mix device with the Realtek Driver.

One note: I have worked on a laptop that had no Stereo Mix device available regardless of driver or setting. Upon doing a web search I found that the audio chip on the motherboard was "crippled" (intentionally or defectively, I don't know). So if despite your best efforts to activate it you end up with no Stereo Mix or "What You Hear" device to use it may be just the laptop.

I think you'll find Sony have pandered to Microsoft and deliberately nobbled 'stereo mix'/'what u hear'. (NO to all those clever people who think it's simply a matter of 'showing disabled devices' - that is not the answer).

I have the same problem with my vpc-f13m0e and Sony Support have been anything but helpful, with replies such as "Kindly be informed that your VAIO does not support this feature"
and "I am sorry to inform you that this feature is disabled in the hardware and will not be possible to use".

There is therefore no point in installing any drivers from Sony. I tried a driver from Realtek (the machine has a Realtek chip) but that didn't help.

My first (and last) Vaio is going back to Amazon as 'faulty'.

Many cam is strictly a video device.
It does not replace the audio.
Check and make sure your Microphone still shows up under device manager and under sound properties on the recording tab.

>__< gotta re-write this reply cuz Toshiba laptops sucks with Wi-fi.

anyways.. same thing happened to the Toshiba laptop that I brought in Best Buy on Black Friday. I have having this same problem with no fix and had done everything, even posted help in this forum but never got any big help. This kinda makes me hate on Win7 and go back to Vista. >_< Well, I guess we can only depend on programs that can record without using the Stereo Mix. oww

If the manufacturer cripples the sound chip so there is no Stereo Mix device available then there is nothing any operating system can do with that. It is an issue with the manufacturer, not the OS.

As I understand it they do this because it is easier than spending the time resolving conflicts with the other devices and software that come pre-loaded on the machine. They load these PCs up by installing the same disk image all the hard drives in an assembly line like process. For some unbeleivable reason some suit decided that "no one uses Stereo Mix anyway".
