No sound from HDMI device Nvidia and Realtek HD Audio

OMG!!...I got this working now!! Realtek digital output without the passthrough enabled and with the Nvidia beta driver installed I mentioned earlier!

No other speaker etc were attached...Looks like the Nvidia beta driver worked! Forceware 195.39 Win 7 | Vista (64-bit )

It would be interesting to see if this resolves the issue for other people mentioning the same issue with Nvidia and Realtek sound issues over HDMI

Actually...Just discovered the only problem is front jack detection does not work and so I have to manually select speaker to hear sound through the headphones...But that is not a big issue for me ;o)

Definately is a driver issue as searching google for "realtek HDMI no sound Nvidia" pulled up alot of threads with others having the same issue...and experienced it since updating nvidia drivers on vista...However reverting to older drivers did not help with windows 7???

I have the same computer as you have md8818... installed win7... and now audio over hdmi does not work anymore

... so i tried to install the same nvidea drive as you have installed... but still no audio over hdmi

... what have you ment with "passthrough enabled" ... where can i do that?

(realtek driver v2.36, nvidia 8.17.11.9539, )

do you have any suggestions for me?

It would be hard for us to help resolve this issue as we have no idea how Amzo got it working... the fact that you installed the same driver as him and it isn't working brings us back to square one... but we can try

Hi Patrick,

Try uninstalling both drivers and reboot in safe mode and remove drivers (for realtek and Nvidia) using a program called driver cleaner pro (look for it on the net)after that, reboot and install the video driver I had used (as mentioned on previous page...link provided) then reboot and then install realtek driver...not sure which release I used but is version 6.0.1.5953, below are a few screenshots including my current settings..the passthrough option is in 3rd screenshot (try it with and without the tick)

I installed windows 7 on my acer aspire 6920 hdmi was working fine till i changed my os now no sound.nvidia geforce 9500m g/c tryed to recover my orig vista disk but no good i would gladly go back if i could...can anyone help please?

Thanks for your detailed advice... I tried it the way you suggested... unfortunately with no success
The only thing happended was, that my HDTV is now making a Tick-Sound in a fast interval even when music is not playing... it stops when i aktivate "Mute" on my digital out device !!??
But with the new Nvidia Driver the HDTV properties dialog from the NVIDIA control panel alows the option to have HDMI with or without audio.
But it still doesnt work anyway

Hi,i had the similar problem with HDMI too...all you need to do is to update your windows 7.
in the list of updates you gonna see you sound and HDMI drivers.

unfortunately that doesnt work for me ... I dont get any updates for HDMI or Sound via Windows Update. Win7 Installation includes drivers for my Nvidia 7650GS ... which are installed automatically if I deinstall the new downloaded NVIDIA drivers.

MD8818 Unknown Device - Suspect USB Network Wireless

I too have MD8818 but have come across a different issue and would like to know if you have it too. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit installed not 64bit.

My network wireless for some reason no longer works.

I have found I have an Unknown Device and suspect it may be the wireless usb network.
