I bought a Dell Inspiron 3847 with Windows 8.1 64 bit installed. To use it as a dedicated Windows Media Center HTPC, I added a 128GB SSD as the boot device and installed Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. My system has Intel HD Graphics 4400.
As I connect it using HDMI cable to my TV, there is good video but no sound. The Device manager shows a yellow exclamation mark on the High Definition Audio Device and there is a red X on the speaker icon in the toolbar.
I've installed the latest Intel chipset drivers from Dell site for this model, deleted the audio devices to be rediscovered but it hasn't fixed the problem. I'll appreciate any ideas to fix this problem. Thank you.
