The pc is a laptop dell inspiron 17r n7110 is not working..
History : I have an other post about the new ssd that will not boot. I decided to take out the ssd and put my old drive back. After reinstalling the hd and reassembling the laptop nothing comes on except the light on the on off button and some clicking noises from the speaker and no screen(black, no video). This laptop is a pain in the donkey for changing the hd's , you have to remove the keyboard, remove the cd drive, remove the palm rest and finally there it is the HD. In process of doing all of this you have to remove all 14 screws. the process of removal there are 4 small connectors so I dissemble the LT again and made sure of connections were ok and still nothing.
So now my main pc is down.(black hawk down!!!!)

so later in the day I was sitting in chair and thinking about it what was going on and prior trying to get the ssd working I was messing with the bios trying get the correct setup for booting, on the last settup I clicked on boot on hd and exited. still no boot on the ssd, so there may be a problem with bios???

So now I need help to get my LT back and running...remember my technical abilty is medium

Any time you change hardware, you should clear CMOS memory. This is so the BIOS will go through it's hardware recognition routines and re-store CMOS memory variables for the new hardware.

I have limited bios knowledge...with my darken screen how do I reset the bios....I just finished putting everything back in order and rechecking the drive (i tested it on and other pc and I can set all the files, I used a sata plug into usb, and while I was there I was able to run programs on it) so i know the hd is working.)everything is reinstalled and and we are at the same point, so how do I clear bios memory

The Dell manual details how to remove the coin cell CMOS memory (BIOS) battery. You remove it for at least 10 minutes to reset the BIOS.

Post on the Dell forum as I suggested. There are both users, like this forum, and Dell personnel that work problems there. I used to be one of the user helpers (10 years) on that forum. I no longer have a Dell product so I didn't feel right posting on there.

Since it appears to be a hardware problem, I would do as Jack suggests and use the Dell forum. According to a few posts I've read, your LCD is causing the 8-beep error. There's BIOS boot time diagnostics you can run but I don't know what they are for your model. Try holding down f12 during power-on. If that doesn't work, you'll need a Dell tech.
