Solved NO videos will play, regardless of browser

No vimeo, youtube, absolutely zero videos from any source will not play. I used to be able to coax Firefox into playing videos for me, but now it's rebelled, too. Can't even left-click to open the video up in another window. Should I uninstall IE 11? Or is it an update issue?

Mate this is an older machine and all I can find are the chipset drivers for Vista 32bit - you could try them and see what happens - at the bottom of the listing are some video drivers what they are I am not sure of but take a look anyway.

You can use these free tools to see if they find anything,
Manually Update them before running full scans,
Try not to use your computer while the scans are running, (one at a time of course).
Uncheck the box to Activate the Free trial from the final install options,
Also use the Custom scan option not the Threat scan,
Select the drive to scan usually C,
If your really infected check the box to scan for Rootkits = this scan option will take several hours to complete,
Never use your machine while scans are running for best results,

ie11 isn't for everyone but you can uninstall any version most likely ie10 would be better,

Thanks, guys. That's lots of helpful information. I'll be working on this later today, using the suggestions y'all have given me.

My bad about the security listing. I use Panda, Malwarebytes Pro, and MSE.

As Thrashzone says mate the ADW is good but ZI would drop the MSE as you have one at least too many AV's n that machine.

If you still think the problem might be malware you can also run this but only if the problem persists after the other stuff has been completed.
Download Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 tis will scan everything from boot up so picking up stuff in all sorts of spots.

I couldn't get "scannow" to work. But I did four of the scans (Adware, Malwarebytes, Super Spyware, & the 4-hour Microsoft security scan). None showed anything malicious. Spyware removed 289 tracking cookies, but there was nothing in memory or registry to remove. The Microsoft scan told me everything was perfect.
I still cannot view videos.

If I uninstall IE 11, will my browser default to IE 10? Or do I have to install it? And will this even solve the problem? Is it a flash issue?

I also notice that I am having to sign into my email and all of my favorite sites every time I go back to them. Is that connected to the video issue? I do switch back & forth between IE & Firefox a lot, so maybe that causes me to have to sign in all the time.

I was just checking the list of updates, and I found seven that failed to update. Maybe that's how this started? They are date 11 June. How do I go back and get them reinstalled?

Now it is important we get that sfc and chkdsk done so can you get into safe mode because you can run them form there.
To get to safe mode - power on and tap F8 then do what is in the tutorials I posted in post#2.

Not sure what you mean mate there is nothing posted with your reply. Now if the scan come nothing then no need to but do the other scan - chkdsk in the same way.

I cannot figure out how to get the black screen onto this forum. It says, "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log."

I managed to find a CBS folder, but there was nothing that matched \Logs\CBS\CBS.logs

Also scanned with "verifyonly," and the report said that there were integrity issues.

OK, I've found the Windows Explorer folder that should contain the CBS log. What do you want me to look for there? Nothing actually says, "CBS log." I narrowed the choices down to 18 July, and may have found what you need. Not sure.

Well then it sounds like the OS is out of whack then and I can only suggest you run the chkdsk by whatever means you can.

The cause of the CBS logs not being there can be due to a lot of things and in this oldish thread I it may give you some ides of what is involved and unfortunately I think a repair install or reinstall with an image . http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/172456-cbs-registry-errors.html

This is why I always back up the registry on all new installs so that I can go back and merge that initial registry back into the machine - that may have been an option but I am guessing you have not got a reg back up.
