I've bought a 2nd hand i5-760S processor. Intel do not admit to ever having made one, but it's in my computer! The reason I'm concerned is the ad said it was 2.53GHz with a max turbo frequency of 3.33GHz. Well I am getting no turbo. It's stuck at 2.53GHz - any ideas?

Download this and open it> http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/1.59-setup-en.exe

Then post a screen shot or Snip please with the CPU tab showing.
It will give us your specs and settings of the CPU.
Voltages, multipliers and Turbo settings.
This would be very helpful.

I can remember that there are definitely the numbers "760" on the chip itself - I can't remember if there is an S or not. But I'm not about to remove the heatsink to find out.

Here is the BIOS screen describing the CPU - it calls it an "S 760". Note the turbo frequency is the same as the normal frequency. On other machines I see these two numbers being very different. I've not overclocked anything, and I've turned on all CPU features.

BIOS

And here is a snapshot of CPU-Z, showing it running at 2.53GHz, when all cores are fully utilized.

Already set to auto.

And my idea of upgrading the bios from 3rd latest version to latest version didn't help either.

I guess this board just doesn't support this CPU fully. Ah well, it is a budget machine.

I noticed that if I go into the overclocking options, that I can only set the CPU clock multiplier at up to 19. Before, when I've looked in a BIOS, the multiplier can be set at at least up to the multiplier required to get the turbo on. Could this board not support multipliers over 19?

Turbo is only used with high CPU load.

I have it fully loaded on 4 cores using BOINC.

Turbo will only boost one processor if the others are basically idle. It can't boost if all 4 are loaded or the processor would get too hot. T test if it is working you have to run a single processor and load only one processor.
