Hi! I'm using this trick (List all modes) to make my monitor use it's native resolution. I can't access the native resolution (1920x1080) with my current cable without this hack and I had to change the cable because the original was too short.

Now my problem is that I can't get 1920x1080 in games and the image looks quite bad because the monitor was made to work (pretty much exclusively) at 1920x1080.

Do you have any suggestion on how I could fix this?

Thanks!

Hi,

What is the screen resolution set to in Windows - can you post a screenshot after doing "right click, then click screen resolution"?

Which game do you have the problem with? Usually, each game has it's own way of setting screen resolutions. Many older games are not widescreen aware, and so they don't come with the ability to work on widescreen resolutions by default.

Hope this helps!

My resolution now, in Windows, is 1920x1080 pixels, but I forced this value. After changing my monitors original cable I couldn't get a resolution bigger than 1600x1200(i think) pixels without forcing.

Now, in Team Fortress I can't get a resolution higher than 1600x900, and I know the game runs great on 1920x1080. I also couldn't get more than 1600x900 (or so) in Duke Nukem Forever, so it's a global problem, and I would like to fix it, not just patch up each game in part.

Hmmn, I'm not sure how to help you. Can you give us some more information?
- monitor
- graphics card
- driver version
- connection type

Are you connecting using a VGA cable? If your monitor and graphics card support DVI, you could try connecting with a DVI cable - this will let you use your resolution natively.
