Solved Norton says Seven Forums is Safe!

Winds of Change

Symantec destroyed Norton when they bought them out.
Time has passed and Norton software has been rebuilt.
I have been using Internet Security for two years now. Trouble? Zero, Nil, Nada, No infections. (Knock of Wood)

Have to say that I haven't used Norton since the 2005 version which was a mess. But I know people that have used the later versions and had no problems with it whatsoever.

Personal choice and personal preference as to what anti-malware to use. Using something (even something with only a 10% detection rate) is still 10% better than using nothing at all.

Actually "Water" is an excellent Beverage taken in the right "Spirit" !! if you get my drift.

However your other statistic might be "mathematically" sound but it's essentially meaningless.

Example here -- say the Mobile network in your area is 99.999% reliable.

on the one time it goes down -- it doesn't matter if its 99.999% reliable -- as far as you are concerned it's equivalent to having an ENTIRE planetary breakdown.

I rather suspect with malware and other things random statistics you've depending on the way you surf the Net or handle e-mail will probably show the same % of infections whether people who've USED AV software or not.

I wonder often when people who report they've got trojans or malware and HAVE BEEN USING AV software why the bother with it since it obviously isn't working.

I suggest the first port of call ought to be common sense basics in using computers and safe web access --THEN implement your security.

After all if you are in a hole --don't dig any more.

I personally haven't used an AV for years now and have never been infected. But just in case, I do run multiple scans for threats on a weekly basis and always keep updated system backups on HDD's not connected to my PC.
