Norton Subscription Fees makes no sense.

Norton Subscription fee is $90 for a year, yet I bought the program for $50 how does that make sense ? You would think Norton would offer the subscription fee for atleast $50 for a year and $80 for (2) years which is currently $180 for (2) years. I've grown accustom to Norton 360 but I will dump it without hesitation because of these subscription fee costs.

The way to overcome this high fee is to prurchase the program new. Search the net for cupons and deals and you'll make out. Now if you buy the very same program that you are presently running the key for the new one should work on it. Try to update your present software to the very latest ver. before it expires. If your new key works you won't even have to reload.

Been discussed before, not worth the extra overhead. There's a Rep System already, and you could always just say +1 or ditto.

IMO Norton is an infection as bad as any virus, taking control of your system and throttling Win7 to nowhere near it's native instantaneous state. It even takes a removal tool to uninstall it like some kind of serious virus.

It's a big money racket preinstalled on most new retail computers to sucker users who'll never know how well Win7 truly runs. Sometimes trying to remove it damages system files so badly it requires a reinstall just to shake it off your leg.

It used to be really bad, but improved greatly with 2010 and 2011 versions. While I too stayed away for years, I would seriously consider them again if I needed a paid for solution.

Every time I considered using a paid solution, I spent many hours researching reviews, Performance stats, firewall usability, How much control you have over the software. Almost every time I made up my mind on getting a paid one I would use it for about three months then go back to free. Simply because they suit me better. In the end its all user preference.

For me, I just find that I don't put myself into risky situations, thus I don't require more powerful solutions. I'm an MSE user on my box, and I have Avast on my wife's laptop.

I try to avoid risky situations, but with my past I wasn't so much avoiding as running into... But now days I'm happy with my MSE+ MWBytes Pro.

Briefly: when you purchase a subscription renewal, that renewal period will be automatically added to your previous subscription, so you won't lose any days, so this may partially explain the higher fee, besides service fees for online financial transactions (via the Symantec store).

If you buy a new product key by purchasing another version of your Norton product, then those days are not added to your previous subscription. If you prefer to renew your Norton product via this method, please wait until a day or two before your subscription expires. Do not let it expire altogether otherwise Norton will turn itself off and your computer will be unprotected. Type in your new product key, and Norton will ask you to connect to your Norton account in order to register your new product key and subscription. For these reason, please keep the login information of your Norton account handy. In addition, Norton will automatically generate a txt file containing your new product key in a "Symantec" folder in "My Documents".

Allow me to disagree you and, in order to avoid a redundant discussion about which is the best antivirus software, simply point out that antivirus software ultimately ends up being a matter of taste/matter of what fits the user's needs.

AV Comparatives is a good site for people interested in comparing the various antivirus software products and brands which are currently available.

I hope you have deactivated the realtime component of one of your two antivirus programs. It is strongly recommended not to have two realtime antivirus programs running on your computer at the same time as they can interfere with each other and cause more problems instead of doubling the barrier strength of your computer.
