Nostromo N50 Speedpad

I have yet to find anything to rival the original N52 speedpad. I really like the looks of the newer N52e, but many people report problems of one sort or another. (Even though I have a brand new in-the-box N52 ready to go when my current one decides to crap out, I go out of my way to take very good care of the one I am currently using so it will last)
I really hope Belkin gets their act together soon.
Like I said previously, the "x64 Belkin drivers (see previous link) work very well.

Waskol, this post goes out to you and your program. Many thanks for it, but I have one concern about it:

I downloaded the sourceforge program for my n50 and have it up and running, but I have one issue with it. I only want my Nostromo to act as computer inputs, not perform some sort of macro (ie. have button 03 on Nostromo be mapped to the up arrow, 04 as 'Q', etc.) However, when I have the Profiler program up, it only appears to have the option to map buttons to macros, shift levels, or temporary shift levels. Even if I set a macro to simply press and depress a button (Q v, Q ^ for example, as a simple way to simply pressing a key) I get a result that is different than simply pressing that button on my keyboard. Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I love using my n50 and would really like to not have to stop because using Windows 7, and as of now this program is the closest thing I can find to a working driver.

I posted this in another n50 thread, but I'll put it here too because this should solve the n50 issues with vista and win7

Install the newest Belkin n52 vista / Windows 7 drivers. Plug in your n50. Then you need to open regedit, then find the gamepad.

Mine was in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/MediaProperties/Joystick/OEM/VID_050D&PID_0805

It's possible on your computer that last directory might be named something different. Just look through each directory in the OEM folder until you find it. The way you identify that it is the n50 is that the OEMName value will say something like '3 axis 10 button controller'

Once you've found it, edit the OEMName key by double clicking on it input 'Nostromo n50 Speedpad' hit ok. If you don't spell this correctly, it won't work. Close regedit and unplug then plug back in your n50. It should now work properly with the Belkin loadout manager.

The issue was the Loadout Manager was looking for a device named exactly 'Nostromo n50 Speedpad' but windows was calling it the '3 axis 10 button controller' or something like that. When it didn't see the n50's name it just assumed no n50 was installed.

Lets hope somebody can help me haha!

Ok so I bought the n52te two years ago.
Hooked it up to my xp machine and it worked fine.
I couldnt get use to it so I put it aside.
Then later that year I bought a new pc with vista, hooked it up and it worked fine.
Still no dice on getting use to it.

Recently saw a youtube video on how to setup the macros.
So I thought Ill try it again.
Hooked it up hunted down some drivers and software.
Started building my macros and went to test them inside of WoW.
Right away I noticed when pressing the second row of buttons it would also activate the third row.
Or if I was pushing the third row it would activate the second row.
So say I had one button set to g on the 2nd set and h on the 3rd set.
It will activate gh every time. No matter if the 2nd or 3rd set is pushed first.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and drivers so many times my pc is on autopilot when they get activated LOL.
I think Ive narrowed it down to it being a hardware issue now.
Anybody have a idea how I can fix this?

The pic attached is of my device settings.
I all of the unknowns are related to the n53te.
I have to manually install the drivers for those.
The gamepad will function with or without them installed.
Nothing changes just more virtual devices .
Also the n52 wont work until I install the hid keyboard show and the hid-compliant mouse.

Yes, this works. I just installed "Nostromo_3.2.4_081607.exe" from BELKIN and followed your solution. Damn thing works like a champ now (and not the pos from plymouth).

Thank you so much unxconformed!!!! It worked like a charm mine was not exactly installed as mentioned but if you you do a quick search through the registry you will find it quick enough! There is a custom piece of software that someone wrote, out there but it was not working exactly. It is truly sad that Belkin has decide not to continue to support this device!

I tried to do exactly that, but as soon as I got to "VID_050D&PID_0805" in the regedit, I opened it and there was no sign of "3 axis 10 button controller" anywhere in it, nor in any other folder in OEM or even Joystick. In "VID_050D&PID_0805", these were the files that I got:

-ConfigCLSID
-Flags1
-OEMData
-OEMName

I dunno if any of those are it or not, but if you can help me from here, it would be much appreciated. If none of those are it, can you give a list of potential other names for it, plus what other folders it could be in as well?

My Razer Lachesis Mouse and SteelSeries Merc Stealth Keyboard are great, but my cherry-on-top device, the Nostromo Speedpad n50, hasn't worked. I've been trying to get it to work on Windows 7 for a while, and this may be the only way so far. Thanks for any support you might give to me.

Hi Brad,

If you open up the game controllers window you should be able to figure out what windows default named your n50. Go to control panel and search for game controller in the top right. It will be the link that says "Set up USB game controllers." That will show you all the game controllers connected. You just need to figure out what windows called your's from that list. Once you know the name, try searching the registry using ctrl+f for whatever that name was. Once you've found it, just follow the rest of the steps I posted before.

I just downloaded the Belkin software, installed it, and my N50 seems to be working fine. No need to hack the registry, the correct OEMName is there.

Belkin no longer make this... Buy Razer Nostromo Gaming Keypad | Official Razer RAZER do...I also have one made by Belkin the n52 ?? maybe...could'nt get it to work either in Win 7 when I tried a month or so back...currently sitting in an onsite van 700k south of my present loc lol.

Thanks for the tip, Simmo. Actually, I had this old N50 kicking around and plan to use it as a MIDI controller, not for gaming.
