Not able to do repair install of Win 7

Hey guys and gals. I have a problem I don't know how to solve. I have an old AMD 939 platform PC running Windows 7. The specs:
Motherboard- Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
Ram- 4 gigs (4 x 1 gig or 2 matched pairs ) Corsair XMS TwinX DDR, timing @ 3-3-3 7
Graphics- PNY Nvidia GeForce GT 620 w/1 gig ram
CPU- AMD Opteron 170 @ 2600 megaherts
Hard drives 2 x Seagate Barracudas 160 Gig 7200 rpm drives

Yes this machine is overclocked, but I get the same result at stock speed. I built this PC about nine years ago and it has been a real trooper. I am retired now an can't afford to build a new one just now. A while back I ran into a problem with some bad Ram modules, and ( I think ) Windows might have gotten some corruption in it. I also recently had a Lenovo Android tablet which I set up to connect to my PC to move files
back and forth.
Anyway, now, the system has degraded in performance and Windows explorer is constantly crashing. So I figured I would just try a repair install over the top from within Windows to hopefully solve these issues without having to do a full wipe and re-install. However whenever I run setup in Windows, I get to the point of the setup checking compatibility, only to get a message which says Setup cannot continue due to the following files present: Lenovo ADB Device/Lenovo composite ADB Device. I have been unsuccessful in finding the aforementioned file or driver or whatever. So I am stuck with a system that is really buggy. I hope someone out there has some idea how to get around this problem without a full re-install. Please help.

Remove anything Java related, Smartphone or tablet related or newer touchpad enhancement drivers.

Thanks for the info, however, no success after removing Java. I'm open to any other suggestions.

I do a clean install every 2 years only to remove the garbage (register, uninstalled programs etc)
Yours is nine years old.
Definitely I recommend a clean install.

For the updates: MS releases SP2 for Windows 7

If your disk isn't SP1
Download a MS down loader tool from Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool.
Download the tool, run it, and under Win 7, choose Win 7 Pro .
Burn a DVD or install it on a USB Flash disk with Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way
Do a Clean install Clean Install Windows 7
Use the COA key to activate.

Well, no joy. I backed up all my files and tried to do a fresh install from booting my windows DVD, only to find out that even from the DVD at boot, I only get as far the blue setup background screen and nothing more. No text, no install now dialog, no nothing.
I don't know if some piece of hardware has had a failure or what. I guess I am going to be forced to wait for the funds to build a new box, unless anyone has any ideas. Honestly, it got farther running setup from Window rather than from boot.

Can you boot into Windows 7. If so.

Just set your bios to defaults and try again.

You said "My dvd" did you create a new installer from the links provided by Mega ?

Hi Painter,
Might be, that as according to your specs your dual booting, when your doing this the BCD editor is interfeering.
Try with just the W7 ssd plugged in AFTER removing BCD, and the dual boot option.
