Not able to install windows 7 64-bit

Hello,

I have been trying to install windows 7 on my gateway gt5628 , when I install it after the final steps to the point where I set up the username and all that, my pc reboots and when it loads it forces me into recovery mode. anyone have any ideas?
Also I'm installing from a flash drive since it won't allow me to install with my dvd drive, since it gave me the cd/dvd device driver missing... error.

Specs:

• Model: Gateway GT5628

• Processor Intel® Core™2 Quad Q6600 quad core processor with VT
• Chipset Intel G33
• Hard Drive 500 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA II hard drive
• Memory Installed: 3072 MB DDR2, 667 MH
• NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600GT
• Power Supply 630 watts

Based on what you have said, I suspect a bad image of Windows 7. Try reburning the DVD with IMGBurn at a speed of 4x or less.

I'm installing it from a flash drive and i'm pretty sure there nothing wrong with the image since I was able to install it on other computers in my house, it's just this one.

No I have not tried that, could you explain? Thanks.

Boot from the installation DVD, or in you case, the thumb drive, and instead of hitting "Install Now", choose "Repair your computer". Then click on Startup Repair. Note: you may have to run Startup Repair as many as three times in order for it to work.

Ok I solved the problem, after 5 days and then I asked one my IT friends, discovered the error. What I was doing wrong was I did not wipe the hard disk fully, I left the factory recovery partition on the drive. After wiping the hard drive fully I was able to install, apparently windows 7 causes a conflict with the gateway recovery partition. I thank you all for your help and support.

This is an example of why all old recov partitions need to be wiped before installing Win7, after any recovery disks are made as backup.
