It was OEM disk installer. SP1 has been on install DVD for only a few months, mine are pre-SP1 too.First question wasn't the SP1 already in the disk? What disk did you use?Clean install yesterday AND SP1 refuse to install.
Since you just installed it and I smell you torrented the iso, I'd really say screw that and do a real clean reinstall following this tutorial (with links to reliable iso files)
In the clean install did you let w7 do a full format of your drive? If not, try it that way.and I smell you haven't read the thread

Problem was solved by removing all partitions(EFI etc), reformatting the HDD and a total clean install. I didnt use the quick option on the format this time and everything has gone smoothly. .... so far. Case closed, problem solved coffee all round.
