Solved Not needed Turbo Boost Technology Driver for Intel 2nd Generation i7?

Hello all this's my second post for help on this site, while looking around the net for more unnecessary driver's to disable, I stumbled across something interesting.

The topic relate's to the I/i series processor's and it's turbo boost driver, when reading the thread I noticed one of the commenters saying "Newer I series processors do not need the TB driver, its built into the processor now.", that really piqued my interest, seeing as I use one these I/i series processor's on my laptop and always figured that the Turbo Boost Technology Driver would be a necessary software component to have so my processor would be able to initiate it's "safe overclocking" function that made me decide to purchase a machine with a "I" processor in the first place.

The commenter also claimed that the 2nd Generation i7 series for sure wouldn't need to utilize the driver for turbo boost to work anyway. I just happened to be using one of the second gen i7 processor's and was wondering if I could disable the aforementioned driver and still utilize "turbo boost" as apparently turbo boost was already "Built In" to my processor, and doe's not require Intel(R) Turbo Boost Driver to function, typing this just make's me dubious and confused about the commenters claim:confused:, doesn't "Built-In" refer to the driver itself, or was the commenter getting at something else?

This's the link to the webpage I found the info on; What is the "Intel Turbo Boost Technology Driver" for? - Super User

If anyone can help me on this, I would really appreciate it.

Thank You in Advance

I think it's confusion with the intel monitor, not turbo boost itself. I'll dig in and see if I can find more info.

Reading through the link there it does seem to be the monitor gadget. Are you having problems with turbo boost?

Or is there another driver you are thinking of disabling?

I personally don't know any reason to remove the driver.
I would just leave it alone if it was my computer.

Discretion is noted, however, I will not be planning to completely remove the driver from my system, only disabling it. My real concern would be disabling it, but not being able to boot up my computer next time because I turned off'a critical function and ended up crippling my machine.

A screen-shot is more-or-less impossible, as I believe I've configured my system up to'a point or that it was initially configured where I wouldn't be able to make a screen shot. However, I found a Google screen-shot that relate's to what i'm exactly referring to, I cannot seem to bring it up as I don't know how to. Anyone have idea as to how to do that?

EDIT: The image mentioned is in the lower-half of the link; http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-...l-R-Turbo-Boost-Technology-Driver/td-p/360041

Sorry for the delay, I hadn't noticed your reply on the second page. No, but i'm still wondering if it would be possible to disable the driver without serious issue's cropping up. Even though I had not read the link entirely, I noticed mention that such a driver would be for 1st gen processor's that utilize integrated graphic card's, I on the other hand do not. But in either case's I could be potentially mistaken.

Without a screenshot of your device manager I will not be able to tell you. First the link your referring to is for HP and your specs show you have an Asus laptop.

As I said it is next to impossible for me to post a screen-shot of my device manager. However from what I can tell, device on that part of the list screen isn't all that much different from mine, aside from the screen showing the device list of'a person whom I assume use's a first-gen "I" type, whilst I use the second. Also, the device name I have vs the opposing list one is 100% of the same, down to the last letter. Sorry I couldn't be that much more of help.

Leave the driver there, if you have a problem with the nvidia you can use the integrated graphics.

Ahhh, thank you for clearing this up and sticking by me for this extended period of time. Always wondered what it truly did and thought it was too volatile to work with. Thank you.

I really hope I didn't frustrate you too much and take up your time.
Again thank you very much and I hope you've a'good day or night.

EDIT:My only regret is that I seem to be able to not give you reputation again, at-least not until I give to the other fine fellow's whom have replied to and helped me, again sorry.
