NT Kernel & System suddenly take 100% of CPU

Hi there


I've notice that suddenly my pc start to freeze without any blue or black screens last week but had no idea why, then i noticed that my CPU is loaded to 100 %
on the process "NT Kernel & System ".

and it completely lock my OS till i doing hard restart, the issue also happnen randomly But 90% happened if i connect to the internet

Everything was fine until some days ago. all i've done was to add new UPS around 2-3 weeks ago (but it dont seem to be it), update itunes, and update windows defender, i tried to restore the system to the time before i update the windows defender but the issue still happning ;(

I have no clue what is causing this, i saw that it common issue around the net but never recall i had it myself till now, i want to format but want to pinpoint the cause of this issue before i going do so since it may won't solve the issue


there's any way to pinpoint the cause of this issue?

Ok....

i just got blue screen today while i was away

pc was restart and a error window that informed me about the BSOD poped up

unfortunately i don't was wise (more like was sleepy) to save the info that window showed

instead i got something from the event log that may help

the computer had been restart from bugs check.​

even after format the issue still happing!

i tried to disconnet everything aside from the power and DVI cable and nothing make it to back down, the issue seem to happend only when i connect to the net and don't seem to be hardware issue, It seem like it will 100% happen when i update windows (around update 60 +-) after the format

i cant use my pc anymore i really need help people

After 2 days of checking everything on my computer, I found the source of high CPU use from "system". I had experienced a power loss during a storm and assumed it affected my system. Checked every conceivable thing on my system with no help. Deleted everything in my startup menu, ran every test available, registry, virus, memory , etc. System just ran SLOW. Downloaded all info I could find on the internet with no help. Was getting ready to do a complete reinstall of Win 7. Had another power outage and on restore of power, found my trouble had disappeared ! Could not understand why and when I tried to access the internet, I found my modem had shut off. System ran at full speed with no modem connected ! When I powered up the modem, trouble returned. So, it appears that the first power outage damaged the modem in some way that it kept talking to the system even when idle. That's why the "system" was showing 100% CPU usage. Changed the modem and system is now running at full speed. If the modem had totally failed the first time I would have not had a problem. The fact that it was working to download from the internet threw me a curve. Total failure would have been better.
Hope this helps someone with their trouble. Power off your modem and see if your trouble goes away.

in my case it was the HDD which had some damaged factors, that is also why the issue happened to me randomly, it the second time that new high quality HDD of WD start to give me issues after year and half of used, i replaced it via warranty But use it as my 3th HDD for now, i'm stay away from "Damaged Digital" they honstly start to screws alot since 2009+ with their HDDs.

I bought TOSHIBA 1TB 24/7 HDD, it HDD that used by servers and build to ran 24/7

i also end up upgrade my gear so now i have gamers mobo and ivy bridge CPU : )

Had the same trouble again, but with a different cause, We are having power hits, short interruptions of power due to storm damage from hurricane Sandy. It seemed that the trouble starts after a power break and an improper shut down of the PC. Once again it caused a high CPU from "system". I finally tried a power off of the PC as opposed to a proper shut down. On restart, the PC sorted itself out O.K. and is running normal. I have since done numerous proper shut downs and restarts and the system is running fine. Don't really know why, but I guess the PC is better at fixing itself than I am.
