Ntfs.sys BSOD BAD_POOL_CALLER

Hello,

I work in the internal IT department for a medium sized business. I have been seeing an increased amount of blue screens lately. I have been receiving them myself without any real luck figuring out what is causing the issue. This doesn't happen to every machine and it happens at random times. There doesn't seem to be a consistent cause for these blue screens.

Any help with a diagnosis would be greatly appreciated!

Hello mwales,

Make sure your dump logging is enabled.

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click System.
3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
4. Check Write an even to the system log, and Automatically restart.
5. In the Write debugging information list, click Small memory dump (256k).

Location of Dumps:
C:\Windows\minidump

Perform a Clean boot:

Reduce items at start-up. No software except anti-virus is required plus doing this improves the time for logging into windows:

Thank you in advance for any help that can be provided on this issue and I apologize for the delayed response to this.

These BSODs are random and are difficult to reproduce with any consistency. Reading through the minidump files, ntfs.sys is referenced as the cause in a majority of the cases that I have seen. We now have 10+ laptops that are showing these symptoms.

I believe the next step is to run chkdisk on these machine to see if that resolves or identifies the problem.
