Open device manager and right click on the one with the exclamation point: SPTD.
Disable it.

I looked in device manager and I was unable to locate the SPTD device with the yellow exclamation point. (I couldn't find any with exclamation points)
The other thing is that all of this stuff was the same with my Vista install. I upgraded to Win 7 and the only thing that I know is significantly different is that it upgraded my Nvidia driver to the latest version. (I know it changed many other things that I did not see, but the display driver was obvious and suspect when I was seeing things drawn slowly on the screen.)
I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to try out your suggestions. (Busy weekend then traveling next week) But once I do I'll report back.
