I've been trying to get my 19" samsung CRT monitor to reach 100hz with windows7, but it seems to be impossible.

I can't find a driver that works for the monitor online, so I made one with RivaTuner, however I can't reach 100hz in resolutions that I know are supposed to get there.

Is this a Nvidia driver issue?

I currently have the latest official one from the Nvidia page.

Your monitor works best at 1920x1440 @ 64 Hz, it's maximum resolution/refresh rate.

uhh, Yeah but I'm trying to run CS1.6 in 800x600 resolution @ 100hz, and somehow thats impossible, whilst I could do that in winxp.

Also.. No Nvidia driver install has to date finished correctly for me, it always hangs on some part of the install.

Yeah, But the issue is still at hand. Its like theres a global cap on refresh rates at 85hz across the board, except for the highest resolutions then it drops a down bit.

If I force CS to try to run in 100hz, it starts in window mode, only filling a portion of my screen.

I've sent nvidia customer support a question, I hope they give me some answers tomorrow

Generally it's better to run an LCD monitor at around the 60hz range, because running it at a higher rate does reduce the life span of the monitor.

Yeah I read something about that, some LCD's even lock their rates at 60 I believe. It's ok of they run lower, and don't worry the human eye on average only can see 30fps. ;)

I personally would never run a LCD on 60hz, always the maximum allowed per resolution, but indeed the issue I'm having is on a CRT.

Ok why don't you make a custom rez in Nvidia, or I think their is a rez editor floating around somewhere? It forces resolutions and Hz, I know their are various programs for that.... Oh man, ummm The same utility for OC on Nvidia/ATI locks resolutions/Hz... I don't use it because I hard mod, but just go searching around for those progz.

None... don't work.. any program won't work, because there isn't a problem from the driver of the monitor, is a problem from the nVidia drivers.. 85Hz is the maximum and they need fix it.

Human eye only see's 30fps give or take, you should be able to use something from 60-85 that suits your eyes.

But it isn't what you can see, is how do you see.. 100Hz is more smoother while you're moving the mouse and even you can realize a different sensibility, if you want to unterstand it try to play with 30fps and 60.. what a difference, no? :)

Depends though, I've had 50Hz look very smooth. In linux once I couldn't get above 53, but it looked just as good as 85 or higher.
