Hello!

About a month ago, I bought a brand new notebook, the ASUS F550JK-DM112D, which has a GeForce GTX 850M. I installed Windows 7 64-bit and all the drivers from the ASUS support page (also W7 64bit).

However, the graphics card doesn't seem to be working. I installed the driver from the support page (337.33) and the GeForce Experience, which updated it to 353.30, but, when checking the device manager, it showed a yellow triangle and was giving the error 43, as seen in the screenshot below:

Sidenotes: In the beginning, I was able to start the NVIDIA Control Panel, but now it doesn't. The process stays opened, at about ~11MB. Also, the GeForce Experience said that I need to update the driver, although I had already installed it and restarted. Furthermore, I couldn't click on any tabs of GeForce Experience, they were all grayed out ("My Rig" etc.)

I have already tried (multiple times) uninstalling and reinstalling the driver in safe mode using Wagnard DDU, but it doesn't work. Also, in another forum topic, the OP got his problem solved by replacing the motherboard, but it was a desktop (unlike mine).

Does anyone know what can I do to solve my problem? Is it hardware related or software?

Thanks!

I will try, but I don't see why the driver provided by the manufacturer himself would not work...

I had the same code for my GTX480 yesterday with latest Nvidia drivers on W10. Solution was to fallback to an earlier driver. I am not sure if this will solve your issue but it is possible something is bugging.

@GokAy - I looked for an older driver, but the one provided by ASUS (333.37) is the oldest for my video card. I haven't found any driver prior to that version that was compatible with my 850M.
@Boozad - I have already tried that, even before I made this thread, but it didn't solve anything.

You don't need to go all the way back. Search for older and beta drivers and try each driver in the list going back 1 at a time. Do an express installation.

Also try loading defaults in BIOS.

I tried installing some drivers between 333.37 and 353.30, but they wouldn't even recognise the hardware (while the driver from the manufacturer would).
Also, I restored to default all the settings in BIOS, but no improvement. I almost certain I will have to reinstall the Windows or put 8.1, if the problem persists.

Only thing that comes to my mind is that you are not downloading the correct bit version of drivers(?). But no idea if it would allow you to install them, if that was the case.

I am downloading the correct bit version, because on NVIDIA's site, you have to choose the OS, and I have always searched for Windows 7 64-bit.

Well, I guess you should try to factory restore to Windows 8.1 and see if it corrects the issue. If still doesn't work, go the warranty path.
