now with all news on the web we cant take this as gospel, but its VERY SHOCKING!! , i knew there were issues surrounding the new core, but i was not aware the GT200 was an issue...????

It's been already a month...

But I hope it isn't true...
I've heard that they will released their 300 Core next year... they didn't go bannkrupt... otherwise we will have had wind of it much much earlier.

It's been already a month...

:sarc:......they're hardly comparable, Intel GFX chipsets serve a completely different market.

I don't think AMD will resort to price gouging if nVidia sinks.... They are the underdog, even when both AMD and ATI were separate entities, a price raise? yes, they've earned it, but I don't think they would bite the hand that feeds them.... IF this is true, I still don't think it will be the end. You don't go from being the leader of the GPU market for almost 20 years and then just give up.

I'd take this with a grain of salt. But I'd certainly hate to see nvidia disappear from the gaming scene.

Ya. From the article, it seems that NVIDIA is losing time/money and need something to save the company quickly.

I know nothing about business, but if I was NVIDIA, I'd put all my engineers on designing a really great DX11 gpu with stability/reliablility as the number one factor.

Nothing drives a customer away further than a solution that will not be stable for them. (Not saying NVIDIA is unstable. I've found quite the opposite.)

I really hope NVIDIA makes it through because it may be a while before I purchase a new graphics solution...but when the time comes, I want a choice...at decent prices too.

Ya. From the article, it seems that NVIDIA is losing time/money and need something to save the company quickly.

Seriously though, I thought this guy sounded familiar. He's not so much pro-ATI per se, but is vehemently anti-nvidia. He's up there with R.C Kennedy in the 'respected journalist stakes'

actually i did find this on more than one site.... the report by different people to....
but ATI aren't the dogs that nivida are... like when they dissed dx11 and ati's new lineup because they didn't have anything themselves :sarc:

This, combined with the Fermi announcement (which is basically aimed at the scientific market, and not gamers) seems to indicate that things are changing at NVIDIA. While NVIDIA is claiming that the story on the SemiAccuratethat the company is shelving the GTX 260, GTX 275, and GTX 285 and possibly the GTX 295 is “patently untrue,” there can be little doubt that things are changing at NVIDIA.

The 275 can't have gone EOL 2 weeks after that as EVGA released a bunch of new 275 cards end of October. And that does seem to be the only website mentioning that they are actually sacking them cards off...the only thing I knew they were actually stopping were nForce chipsets, so hopefully it isn't all that bad.

The site that has been linked is the only site I found it on, the other site has what I quoted. Nvidia didn't "diss" DX11. They just basically said it wasn't going to impact games hugely, and I guess they're right to an extent, unless you know where the huge lineup of DX11 games are, same as what they said about DX10.1 that ATI kept banging on about with their cards and look where DX10.1 stands now...the first game that got released with it had a patch released a couple of weeks later that removed 10.1 because of graphical bugs with it.

it was more dissing ATI's new cards mostly because they were able to outperform Nvidia with a single core..... and ATI has had this happen for years... but now that ATI is in the lead the first thing Nvidia does is say its not worth the money.. even though its clearly better

Not so sure

Been researching this on the stock prices and even read through 13 pages of the last quarterly report from Nvidia to the major shareholders dated Nov 12th 2009 and it gave no indication that this was a factual matter.
The price of Nvidia shares are relatively stable but not as high as they have been in the past.
Nvidia has said, officially, that it intends to focus on other chips for smart phones ect... but this is prudent and not new for them to remain deversified...
The only thing that they are saying that they are unable to make is a chipset for the newest Intel Chips because Intel has a court injunction on them to prevent them from doing so at this time. That will be going to court in about six months. Intel wants exclusive chipset support for their newest chips.
All that being said, the news may be so new that it isn't reflected in the stock price or so insignificant that it in a company as diverse as Nvidia this is not the main source of profitablity.
