Oblivion GotY Screen Goes Black When Loading Game

I bought Oblivion through the Gamestop app about a month ago. It's been working fine and I've put about 35 hours into it Then today it started being weird- the screen goes black when I try to load my game. I tried opening it several times and it kept doing the same thing. I really don't want to have to re-install it or reset it in any way since I've put so much time into it and I don't want to have to restart the whole thing....please help? I've seen a lot of people having problems running it through Steam but this wasn't installed using Steam at all. I've tried several different things already that haven't worked, so any suggestions would be awesome.

First off backup your game save files, in case of worst scenerio you can resume. Unless the save file is corrupted of course. Do you have more than 1 save file?

Also any other games or applications that fail to work?
DO other games work just fine?

What have you tried?
I highly recommend you reinstall. As long as you save your backup you should be able to continue.
