Solved October 9 updates broke desktop gadgets

Only the CPU, clock and weather that are built into Windows work now. I have Network, Drives and GPU meter from the same author and i first noticed the GPU gadget was just showing a pink background with no graphics and clicking on the config brought up a blank screen. I did try updating to the latest versions of these, but it didnt help.

Any suggestions? The only post that seemed to offer advice is from 2 years ago and that KB listed wasnt in the list from Oct 9.

Mine are still working fine. The easiest is turn off the Gadget platform, and turn it back on again

Start> In search box type Turn windows features on or off> Scroll down to Windows Gadget Platform> Untick it and click on OK lower right

Repeat the process and tick it again.

If no help...when you right click Desktop> Gadgets

Does the gadget list come up? If so, and you click on one, what happens? If not, try this

Open task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc)> Confirm sidebar.exe is running> Right click on sidebar.exe and choose End process> Navigate to

C:\Users\(Your user name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar

Copy the Settings.ini to another location so if this doesn't work, you can copy it back. Now delete the .ini file. reboot and see if that helps.

Disabling and re-enabling did the trick. After working flawlessly for 4+ years this is the first issue ive had with the Gadgets. Thanks
