Solved OCZ 650 powersupply shutdown

I built a new computer recently and it was working fine there have been previous unexpected shutdowns for a few times but just today there was this freeze and everything on my comp froze i checked the eventlogs and this is what is under my log for the powersupply under critical warnings

-The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

This is an Event 41 error. It simply means that Windows doesn't know why it shut down.

First check to make sure that all of your fans are running and that nothing is clogging them (to include PSU, CPU, and graphics card).
Use a temperature monitor (I suggest this free one: HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools ) You may see high temperatures just before the system shuts down.

the problem stoped after i brought my graphics card back to normal settings but i sill have a question.
Shouldnt i be able to set my graphics card to a frame rate target and not have my comp crash? i am using a GT 440 with an 650watt power supply

The card is designed to run at a certain "setting". The fact that it operates in excess of that setting is a bonus - not a guarantee.

There are many different reasons as to why it won't let you set it that way - but that's a subject for another forum - either one specializing in video cards or one specializing in overclocking.
