Hi all,

For some reason, on my work computer all of my desktop icons disappear from time to time, always after deleting or creating files, and sometimes just randomly. However, they aren't deleted or anything, they reappear again when I mouseover them.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure when it started but it's quite a pain ><

Win7 Enterprise x32 SP1
Intel i5 3470S
4GB ram

I can post more details if needed.

Hello jammie and welcome to Seven Forums.

Don't know if this will help or not but it's possible that your icon cache became corrupted or damaged in some way. This tutorial will show you how to rebuild the cache.

It's also possible that some system files became damaged or corrupt. You could run a System File Checker scan from an elevated command prompt (Option Two.) If problems are found run the scan at least 3 times and reboot the computer immediately following each scan.

Thanks for the response!

Just posting here seems to have fixed it. Obviously I scared the bugs away...

I'll keep those fixes in mind if it starts playing up again.

A idea:
Was your I.T. Department doing maintenance at the time you were having problems. Give them a call and inform them of the problem you were having and when.
