Office 97 breaks UAC

Ok. I’m one of those who do not need to move from Office 97. It worked for me during all of 98 and XP. Word gets a little use. Excel, I use for many projects and it does all I need. Don’t need to do anything more. So I get a new computer with windows 7 Pro as I’m in to digital photos and HD video. Install XP mode and move most of my old XP and even 95-98 software over. 90% of my old software worked (in compatibly mode if needed). Even many of my old 98 games worked in compatibly mode.
Here is the only major problem (I’m a lousy speller). In Word 97, the spell checker will detect misspelled words but will not offer suggestions. Has anyone seen this problem and any ideas beyond buying Office 2003 Home? I read where 2007 excel runs poor compared to 2003.

Why is anyone using 13 year old software? I know some people might be forced to use Access 97 if the database was made in Access 97, but otherwise there is no need to use the Office 97 suite.
