I don't know when this happened as I don't often need to use MS Office but all of my Office software doesn't look right. At first I though I might have accidentally changed some settings somewhere but I'm not too sure now.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to THE Seven Forums, Many Popes! :)

It appears you are using Office 2007, correct? It also appears it might be a display driver or an Aero issue.

Does this happen with any other programs that utilize the Ribbon interface?

If not, a re-install (or, more accurately, a repair installation) of Office is in order.

It looks like you're using a custom theme, which may be causing this. What happens when you try one of the included Windows 7 themes?

Good catch, Darician, regarding the custom theme. Definitely, the start icon has been modded which would lead one to wonder what else has been modded resulting in the issue the OP has experienced.

I have reverted back to the default theme and Office is now back to normal. If I do change to my custom theme it will break again.

I think I'll stay with default. Also, I'd like to point out that the theme I reverted is separate from the start icon.

Anyway, thanks, everything is good now.

Office 2007 works normally

Thanks you two just saved me several frustrating reinstalls.

My Office 2007 looked exactly the same as OP snip, however I have no modified themes or system files as system freshly re-imaged.

First I tried changing office color under options (Blue,Silver,Black) no results then a repair install, again no results.

Darcian's solution to switch back to the default Windows 7 Aero theme (the one with the crappy blue background) worked. However I am still stumped as to the cause of the office appearance being messed up as the theme that was causing it was created with the default Windows 7 Aero with a slideshow added (now deleted).

Even stranger is I have just recreated the exact same slideshow described above and Office 2007 now functions normally.
