Tommy, I relly can't tell. CPUz is not reading the voltage right. HW monitor seems to be saying 1.184. If that is right at 4.5, you have a 'golden chip'. Have you tried the fix for CPUz? That's what I go by, but yours is reading speedstep voltage, not the current voltage. All CPU's are different. I usually start with manual voltage and would set it at 1.25 and try that, if I passed 30 minutes of Prime I would drop it to 1.20 and try again, keep dropping it until It wouldn't run it. Then bump it back up .010 and make a full run at prime. If I passed that, convert it to offset and run it again. That's just the way I do it, everyone has their own way. But with manual voltage, what you set is very close to what it will be in prime. That's how you will know exactly what is needed for the chip and board to pass prime. Then convert it to offset and run that way. But, if you are at 1.184, give it a try. It really matters what Vcore goes to during Prime, not what is set in bios. Thus, why I use manual to find my lowest vcore. Offset fluctuates too much.

BTW, to convert use the VID in core temp. Vcore - VID = Offset (+/- .010)

That's what I was getting at Steve, the 1.18x voltage he told me about earlier. That is really low. Tommy, something weird, the 3770k @ 4.5GHz should run IBT quite a bit faster. Here is my 3570k @ 4.5GHz...see if you can spot the difference.



Tommy, did you change anything else in the BIOS after you read that guide? Load Line Calibration, Current Capability, etc?

Kelly, I'm pretty sure the 3570 will get more Gflops than the 3770K. I know I was surprised at that when I went from a 2500K to a 2600K.

the IBT test maybe because my ram speed i went through that guide Steve gave me read it from head to toe tried some of the setting and that is what i got

@ Kelly if you have the same board what were your settings just curious also my ram is 1600mhz if that makes a difference and the ibt ran that fast on stock so i don't know

Yes, just about the same. I run just about 97-99 Gflops now.

I don't have a good overclocking chip. It will go, but you have to make it do it, but this is what I get with IBT.

I did not know that. I always thought I had a pretty good chip, but I am realizing now it is pretty much middle of the road. It doesn't put out much heat though, so that's good.

Tommy, I will take some pictures of my BIOS after I get done watching this episode of Breaking Bad.....I can't stream it if my PC isn't booted up lol.

Kelly, I've had a 3570K and a 3770K and there is a difference. But, from what I see from yours, you have a pretty decent chip. I know I'd be happy with it. I'll eventually get a 3570K for the rig I'll be building in the next few days. We'll see how that shakes out. For right now, it'll have a 2600K in it. Heck, it was just sitting in a box, I had to do something with it.

I really like the new PC. It's my first smart TV, so i haven't figured everything out, mostly nothing. remember, I'm old an not used to this new fangled stuff. heck, I've never owned a smart phone. So, it's been a little challenge. Instructions for things are almost non existent, well they are non existent. I have it set up with the set top box so can see TV and am currently using a USB 3.0 dock with a hard drive and can watch movies. I have the motherboard set up and running on a bench right now. Am waiting for a few minor parts to do the build. I'm having trouble with understanding the TV and find it difficult to use. But I figure I can do anything I want with a computer. So, that's what I'm waiting on.

I was a little disappointed. I really wanted the Silverstone HTPC but after looking at tolerances and realizing what a nightmare it would be wiring the thing and finding parts, I'm going with a 600T instead. I'm going to use a 6950 card right now (yes, I know it's serious overkill but I already had it and it beats buying a new one, although I will buy another pretty soon.) But, it will look pretty funny with an 11" card on a mATX board.

The TV is an LG 55LA6200 and is nice and has a great picture. I'm very happy with it. I've tried the PLEX server and it is really nice. I'm going to have to try to learn it. I'll eventually figure it out and get it set up the way I want it. We need a section on SF for smart TV's and HT PC computers for dinosaurs like me. But, to answer your questions, I should be building in the next few days depending on the Post Office's delivery schedule. You know how that is.

Paul, 4500 mhZ seems to be the going number. At one point I had mine at 4.8 for an everyday overclock, but didn't see any great improvement. Ivy seems to be 4.5-4.6 sweet spot. No big advantage over that.

Yeah I agree Steve, for a daily overclock 4.5-4.6GHz seems to be just right, great performance with good temps. It's only when you start going higher than that then the temps start to rise very rapidly.
