Looks like the best move Intel made was releasing Haswell..........Ivy Bridge sales have went through the roof!
True, "slightly used" Haswells are selling too, lol.

lol Don't go into overclockers.nuts

they will have a conniption fit hearing people dog haswell but gee maybe like 3 people in that whole fricken thread have it stable at 4.8

Other then this people are just getting beat up by not being able to fully stabilize haswell it is a joke honestly

But yet they kept insisting to me it wasn't so the only true way to get it stable is to leave it stock

or attempt a really mild oc :sarc:

They are good chips but aren't for overclocking

Hey guys, Just wanted to let everyone know I somehow 'lost' my SF Overclockers badge last night. But, I'll get it back as soon as I can find the code. But, that's not the purpose of this post.

Due to his excellent work and the sharing he does with us on the 'Show us your Rig' thread, I purpose we make Bungee an honorary member of the SF Overclockers club. Plus, the rigs he builds look outstanding, at the very least. But, the hardware he uses in them makes him deserve to be here, even if he does not post his overclock, I'm sure any one of those rigs could rightfully be on our leader boards with no problem.

Of course, this is Paul's Thread and he will have to make the final decision. I'm just making a proposal. Does anyone object?

Yeah deffinately! When i got my first build i went there for advice and the response i got was "why you here noob?" or there abouts.

Bunch of Mug's!

From what i've read about Haswell recently it seems they're good for high memory speeds but low cpu speed's. They perform about 7-10% better than the previous chip's.

7-10% doesn't sound that great when you can't get the blasted thing stable and no BSOD

I just don't like when people see the truth in front of them but deny it all the way through until you catch them with there hand in the cookie jar aka selling the chip off they so talked highly about

To me it makes no sense to buy 3 or 4 chips to find one that is 3 c cooler or even a little high oc with little voltage that is too much time and money

Everyone needs to remember that Haswell is built completely different than Sandy or Ivy. It has different parameters for overclocking. You can't use the same methods to overclock Haswell. It will take time to figure it out, but they will. I would remind everyone of the 'reviews' of Ivy when it first came out. It is too hot to use and cannot overclock as well as sandy Bridge. It is a more effficient chip, but that can be made up by how much higher you can overclock Sandy than Ivy. I think we could all go back and read the early reviews, and debunk everything they said about it. It was absolutely, not true. In time, the same may be said of Haswell. That remains to be seen, but based on previous early reviews of chips, is likely. Personally, I pay little attention of the early reviews of hardware. Give it some time and then make a decision. All cutting edge technology has it's issues when first released, but once a few bios updates are made and people learn how to deal with it, everything turns out to be good. Having said all that, I don't intend to upgrade to Haswell any time soon, if ever. But, lets all take a wait and see aproach to something few people know a lot about. The only thing I know about Haswell, is if you try to treat it like Sandy or Ivy, you will have a lot of issues.

Well the thing is the settings involved there is no way to know where to start there is uncore multi and different power states

I have seen maybe like 3 get the chip up to 4.8 Ghz but it takes so much tuning it's almost not worth it

I understand when you say it isn't like Sandy or Ivy The temp heat thing will always be a issue with Intel products that is a given

I just really think Haswell is for a much leaner purpose as in good speed and power with out the Overclock

This should sort your badge out Steve - http://www.sevenforums.com/pc-custo...s-overclock-leader-boards-41.html#post2502678

And yeah that is a nice thought for Bungee.

Thanks you kind sir. I think I'm all sorted out now. It helps tho know the right code. I put that in there but used the wrong syntax. You fixed me right up. Thanks.

No problemo my friend, if I could make a suggestion, I would reduce the gap by 1 line between the badge and your Sig to bring it all together a bit better if it's possible? I know I put an image blur round the edge of your sig so you might not have a spare line.

**Disclaimer: You may actually prefer the gap and I am no way implying it does not look good with the gap, it is your sig, you can do with it what you wish, the advice given is only personal opinion on what might look better: End of disclaimer** :dinesh:

Here's an interesting one for you guys.

It's a long story which I won't bother going into in detail, but I got sent my old Asrock Extreme 4 back as the new owner had issues with ram not working in dual channel mode. I got him to send it back so I could test it, and it is working fine. I still need to sort that out with him but that's for me to deal with.

Anyway, I have given it a good testing out and it appears to run very well, I just ran an overclock very close to my personal best, but last time round on the Sabertooth I am sure you all remember I ran some crazy 1.9v+ to get 5.4GHz.

Well take a look what was needed on the cheap Asrock board -

CPU-Z Validator 3.1

I am hoping it's just down to colder temps in the cabin, I would hate to say the cheap Asrock is better at overclocking than my nice Sabertooth, but right now that's how it looks. I hope to change that by testing the Sabertooth again in some cool weather in the next few days.

Here she is in all her glory lol
