Hello i have a problem relating to running programs that were relatively meant to run in Winxp(x32bit).
Although they would run in Vista and Win7.
I am in Win7(x32bit), i havn't updated to SP1 or installed some updates.
I do not even believe its an update issue because prior to having this problem the programs
were running fine, its just recently it has stopped working and i am getting this error.
I do not know how to troubleshoot, where do i even begin to look for fixing this error.
Also i have problem with running games; old light games to be precise.

So what would be the solution for this problem. My Pc actually came with Winxp(x32bit) preinstalled.
I have updated it to Win7(Retail ver), few years back.
Any suggestion would be helpful.

Previously Win7 showed lot of errors like:
1. When runing chkdsk during boot, it showed some errors and it fixed it. That error too existed,
when i had turned on Hibernate option to ON. Way before this present APPCRASH error existed.
2.I run an anti-virus specifically to deal with USB viruses called SMADAV 2016. I checked everything
and it only shows desktoplayer.exe virus. Which creates itself and the antivirus detects it and
removes it.
3.I am using a Restored OS (backup) of few years back, like 2016.
4.I do not understand, it feels clanky and shaky. Something could happen and a new error would come
up again. I am tired of this error, i cannot look after a pc. I am not an IT guy.
But i also do not like errors. All i use in Internet, few programs and games and music.
Maybe few years back it downloaded malware but i dont think its the reason for this APPCRASH error.:(:(:(
Thank you.

You can download and install XP Mode for Windows 7. XP Mode consists of two items:
  • Virtual Machine software
  • A fully functional copy of Windows XP
Here is the information and the download link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8002

Both of these items are downloadable for free from Microsoft.com. Once you have downloaded and installed both items, you will be running a fully functional copy of Windows XP inside of Windows 7. You can then install your XP software in the copy of XP that is running inside of 7.

How much memory do you have? If you have less than 4GB, XP Mode may run slow. But you can install it and try it out, to see how well it will work for you.

I suggest that you resolve the problems you are having with Windows 7 before installing XP mode. Perhaps a clean install of Windows 7 would be a good idea. Also, I suggest that you install Windows 7 service pack 1.

Thank you for your suggestion.
But to be honest, the programs that didn't run; just started to run after i had updated
Win7 to SP1. 2-3 programs are running fine now.
Except one game which is pretty old, i'll just do a quick update and see if it can help.
As for Winxp Mode, i necessarily do not use legacy software for productivity. Except for few
Accounting software like Tally.
Its just a home pc. But i purchase a lot of stuffs from Internet, like Amazon...
My nephew keeps on playing that one game called Feeding Frenzy(made for Winxp), which seems to fail
all the time.

The problem is still not gone. :(

Just downloaded another game and it was running okay. Don't understood how.
Anyways what i need in Win7 is working now. Despite other tweaks.
Thankyou.

First thing I would do is to prohibit the nephew from playing on the PC. Lots of problems can result when young people use your computer as a game machine.
