One Music Folder will not open no matter what

I have THE Music Folder located in Libraries and inside this Folder i have another Folder called All Music that no matter what i do, i cannot open the damn thing. It's not locked, It's not restricted, I've tried right clicking on it and doing Open. I've tried doing Open in New Window. I've tried Deleting the damn thing and then Restoring it.

I don't even get an error. It just simply sits there. Yet i can open every other Folder on my Computer. Except this ONE Folder.

Help, please?

I have Windows 7 Home Premium x64, My Virus Scans are up to date and so are my Computer Updates. I've closed all Programs and tried opening it, too.

This isn't "Super" important. I'm more concerned that there's something wrong with my hard-drive than the actual Music (although there's over 700 Songs in this one Folder..)

This also happens due to multiple codes installed on the PC. Try uninstalling all video/audio players like VLC, K-Lite, Shark codec, itunes, etc. and then try opening this folder.

Still not working..
I do use Itunes as an application to put songs on my Ipod and then on my actual Computer i use Winamp, but i've been doing this for a few weeks now and have had no issues. I haven't even recently opened this Folder. I open Folders inside it that have more Music. Which i can still do by using the Arrow key next to the All Music Folder in the Libraries Menu

Lol ok that was annoying. I used a Malware Software to scan the Folder just in case, and it said nothing was infected. Then suddenly i double click on the Folder and it opened. But when i closed the Folder and went back to try and open it again, it still will not open!!

Try doing a DIR command from a DOS prompt.

By "sits there", you mean the equivalent of a mouse pointer "hourglass" (green circle)?

While it is hung, poke around in TASK MANAGER and see if you can see any physical I/Os or CPU usage that's occuring. If need be, click on the PERFORMANCE tab (top) of Task Manager and then click on RESOURCE MONITOR (lower left tile). Open up the CPU or DISK tabs/miniwindows and see if that sheds any light on what it's hung on.

What i meant by "Just sits there" is that it literally does nothing. It doesn't even show an hourglass or make the Folder Window Non-Responsive. I did what you said and i noticed that when i double click the Folder, my CPU Usage suddenly jumps for the fraction of a second then dies back down to its usual.

I was looking at the CPU Tab in Resource Monitor like you said, and when i double clicked on the Folder again, there was about 3 things that suddenly were using more CPU than normal.

It was a little hard to catch them.. But it looked like dwm (Desktop Windows Manager), perform.exe, and i couldn't catch the 3rd one.

I'm not a Computer techy person so i have no idea if this means anything ..

How did you try changing the permissions if the folder offers no response to any type of user actions?

And when you say you tried the copy command suggested by Shadethire in post #7, could you be more specific about the results. Did it report anything after pressing enter? or what?

First I'd recommend using and elevated command prompt and try to enter the directory. If this does not prove helpful, try using the short-style filenames (e.g. mymusicfolder = "mymuci~1" etc.) to see what it reports back or if it allows access to the folder this way.

Addition: What type of antivirus software are you using for active protection? Have you ever uninstalled any previously installed antivirus/antimalware software you used to have installed?

The only thing i cannot do on that folder is Open it. I can cut it, Delete it, Change the permissions, etc. I've tried changing the permissions multiple times, taking in and out of Sharing, etc. It still does nothing.

Well, i did it wrong haha. I did it again and this time it moved perfectly fine. I put it inside my Documents folder instead of the Music Folder. In the Documents folder, i can open it perfectly fine. However if i move it back to the Music Folder, i once again cannot.

I am using Vipre Anti-virus and no i have not recently uninstalled any antivirus/malware software

I've noticed i can still open the Music Files by using a Media Player or Itunes or such. If i right click and open it in a music application that way, it will play.

The problem may be the memory, because you said: "I have 700 songs".

Yeah, scratch that. I actually have 896 songs.

Hi Jadet6,

i think its due to the large size of it.. so try these steps and please tell whether it is helpful or not!

1 just create a new folder(N)
2.just cut & paste the 'old folder'(O) (ie,the error folder)
3.now you can open the new folder(N) created as well as the 'error' folder(O).
4. remember once you closed the window you may not able to open both the folder (N & O) once again.. so try step 5
5.not close the the opened error folder (O) ..just split the large folder(O) into two or more folders by cut & paste..
