Dear Fellows,

i have a printer connected to server which is avaliable to rest of computers which are connected to network via Wifi.

when a print request is send by a computer it stays pending as Server-Printer is offline, for printer to be online 1st user has to go to Networks->Server-PC then has to enter username and password.

is there a way to overcome this so that any computer which is connected to network can send request for print without having Userneme/Password of any account on the server?

Kam, is this printer connected to the server directly? If so then the system admin has to change the security tab of the printer. If the printer has an IP directly, you should be able to add the printer by IP and it should be ok.

Can I assume that your not logged onto the server or Domain?

Thanks Rich,

Yes that printer is connected directly to the Server PC, and if anyone wants to use that printer he ist have to login to server. for this admin of Server has to give a username and password. what i want is that anyone who is on our network can use printer without logging on to Server PC.

About changing security tab of printer by the Admin, i saw there was only option of sharing printer.

if it is possiable that printer remains avaliable to evrey computer on netwok without logging into the server please guide me how to do it.

Kam, based on what you say about the printer connection. It is not possible to allow everyone access to the printer without a userid/password. If the printer was installed stand alone, like with a network direct connection. then it would work.

The sharing of the printer by the server restricts access to any of the devices or shares.

I would recommend that the printer be connected via a small network server device, they are pretty cheap and they connect the printer to the IP network directly and anyone with the IP can acces it. Some devices that connect the printer to the network come with software that does all the connection stuff.

Best I can come up with.
