It's probably something simple but I haven't found it yet. Any way to set ALL new windows to full screen rather than the standard 1/3rd screen?

Joe

Hello Joe,

Windows 7 remembers the size and position of all Windows Explorer windows for what the last window was closed as. You can open a Windows Explorer windows, maximize it, then close it. All windows will open maximized after that as long as you close them while maximized as well.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Yes, but usually not with 3rd party programs though.

Hi Brink, Unlike Vista, 7 does this with all my programs.

Strange, it does for all the included features in Windows 7 for me as well, but it doesn't for CCleaner, Auslogics Disk Cleaner, or any 3rd party programs. :(

If I click on any shortcut I've saved to the desktop it opens to a small window every time no matter how many times I've opened and expanded it. It's not being saved as full size. Kind of annoying.

Joe,

What are some of the shortcuts for? This way we can see if others with the same program or file shortcuts see the same thing.

I fixed the problem. I just dumped IE and went back to FireFox. Soooo much faster too. I thought I'd give IE8. A waste as usual. I should have made FireFox my first download after Win7 install.

I found a solution for IE Desktop shortcut not opening full screen. Contrary to other threads that said it was not possible due to changes in IE.

First: Right click on your IE icon and select properties. Where is says RUN, pick Maximised from the drop down menu. Click OK.

Second: go to the Control Panel. Select Default Programs (must not be in category view). Click on Deafult Program and then Associate a File Type or Protocol with a Specific Program. After a while, the list will pop up.

Third: Find .htm and double click on it. The default should be set to Internet Explorer. Just click OK. After the listing refreshes, do the same thing for .html

Now, double click one of your shortcuts on the desktop. IE will open full screen, and you will get a prompt saying "Internet Explorer is not currently your default browers..." Uncheck "always perform this check..." and then click NO. From now on, desktop IE shortcuts will open full screen and you wont' get a prompt.

I can't really say why this works, but it does. I've tried it on 3 different Win7 loads and had 100% results.
