I have win 7 64bit Pro on an Intel i4770 Quad Core, (ASUS Z87-K motherboard)PC with a primary Samsung EVO 840 250gb SSD - (C:\) and 2x2tb HDD in RAIDS 1 (I:\)Using Intel Rapid Storage Technology Raids Controller.(The system was built by Chillblast 12 months ago) For about a year I had no problem with this set Up Then the system started to slow down rapidly Firstly I noticed "Not Responding" messages in Firefox, This spread to MS Office 2003 Apps - Word, Excel etc. The programs would seize up for a while, and become Unresponsive then resume. After reading up for possible causes on these forums I tried disabling right click context menu's in certain programs. This made some difference (using nirsofts shexview) but did not totally cure the issue and is not ideal. I've run sfc /SCANNOW - no problems reported I've AVAST internet Security 2015 on my system. - Scans clean (I've also got Malewarebytes on my system also scans clean. Both these have exclusions to each other and have lived side by side prior to the problem starting) I've tried disabling non essential startup items with not much success I've also tried Windows troubleshooting. Restore points and recovery all to no avail. Things get particularly bad if I try and open a document through Windows explorer e.g. a Word Doc, the appt stalls goes very very slow and "not responding" appears. However if I open the Application up first e.g. Word and then open the very same file from within Word then the response is immediate. The same problem happens with Excel, Adobe reader and opening various data files downloaded as e-mail attachments. If I go into the APP no problem, however if I open up the doc through the email download/browser download or Win explorer then it's like walking through treacle.! any help, suggestions much appreciated.
