Opening new tab in Chrome problem

I use Chrome. I have my opening page set to Bing and Chrome shows that site when I first open it. However, when I try to open a second tab (a new tab) Chrome opens it at Google. Is there a way of making Chrome open all new tabs also in Bing?

Go to the Chrome settings page.
Go down to Search and using the pull down menu, select Bing.

Yes, I have witnessed this issue in Opera too.

If I set settings>search engine to Bing, then put a search term into the search box, I get the results from Google.

If I go back to settings>search engine I can see it still says Bing. No explanation. The Bing "Related Searches" also vanished from search results.


If I temporarily change the search Engine to Yahoo or DuckDuckGo (in Opera) then also I still get results from Google. Don't know why.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
