Opens all word files on 2nd drive as read-only!?

Hi all,
- In my system I have and old HDD drive and a new SSD drive.
- I have now configured the new SSD drive with dual OS (windows 7 and 10).
- I have installed Word on the SSD Windows 7 OS (same as was installed on the old HDD drive).
The problem is this: I can start the PC from the Windows 7 OS on the new SSD drive and from there I can view and open all my files which are located on the old HDD drive (which now happens to be my H: drive) - but, when I open a Word document located on the old HDD drive (H it opens up as read-only!? I have changed the attributes for the entire H: drive so as to not have any files as read-only... But when opening a Word document on the H: drive it still opens up as read-only
Any suggestions on how to reclaim my own files again as normal read files ?

What version of Word are you using.

Have you Updated Windows 7 to Service Pack 1 (SP 1).

Hi Ranger4, I am using Word (and Office) 2002 (XP) and yes I have SP1 on both installations - thanks.
I have no doubt that it is a rights issue, but I don't know how to resolve it

The person who created the folder will have rights on it even if the username is the same on the other system the sid won't be you need to set the permissions on the folder to everyone full rights

Okay - I have now set the permissions on all folders for everyone to full rights (confirmed by checking the rights on a folder holding some of the Word documents I need access to). However, I still do not have full access to the actual Word documents as I am only given a read-only copy !? Any suggestions as to how to overcome this issue without having to re-set the permission for each and every Word document (which does work) ?

I think you will have to reset the permission on every Word document.
